Really bummed out right now. Shocked, stunned and saddened to
hear of Neil's passing. Really speechless right now. RIP Mr.
Peart.

way too much to type right now. But I'd been on a HUGE Neil
bender the last 2 weeks. I literally started reading his book
Ghost Rider which is about him losing his daughter and wife on
the DAY he died.
How is that for completely insane. I'd been talking to David
Williams and was sending him tons of Neil Pear related material.
He was on a lot of people's minds these last few weeks....I
think somehow he was communicating with us in some other way.
and we responded. I'd literally not talked to David on the
phone for YEARS and he called me a few days before...but I was
already in my Neil Peart obsession.
I did mention you in the call and he totally remembered you. I
told him we still are friends and see each other. was pretty
cool.
I've been texting with david and ozhan for the last hour or so
and sending David screenshots of all the musician tributes to
Neal/
listening to Rush on youtube and reading all the comments about
Neil.
This is one of the bigger losses in rock ever and that says a
lot.

Thanks for sharing Rich. Yeah. I'm really shocked. I can only
imagine with Geddy and Alex are feeling right now. In the back
of my mind, I still had a Rush Reunion happening some day in the
future, even though the likelihood of it ever coming to fruition
was slim to none. But I was hopeful. Anyway, yeah, been watching
Peart vids on YouTube myself.

I know. My hope was they didn't find out like...with a phone
call and they had a chance to say goodbye.
freaking brutal.
we can talk more at length in person...again so much to
type...but my thought is that Geddy and Alex did NOT know when
they retired.
I think Neil may have, but did not tell them. The interviews of
Alex of Geddy never had a vibe of..."this guys really sick and
needs to focus on this"
I felt like they respected his decision but clearly had NO idea
that he had brain cancer or something life threatening.
I think if they did....you'd really have had a sense of like "he
did so amazing and we just love what we did etc"
I felt like both Geddy and Alex were a little bummed and bummed
would not override compassion for an ill friend.
so you get my point with that/

sorry for the typos in my top post. I was trying to get it all
out fast because I knew it wouldn't be short!
Gene and Paul both tweeted about this by the way...which I'd
expected since they toured and were friendly with the band/

Yeah, I know they had a history with RUSH. Fun fact (trying to
lighten it up somewhat on a somber moment right now), you know
the KISS ALIVE II interior with the Stage and Flame? Of course
you do. That was shot in San Diego and the band on that tour
opening for them was RUSH.

I really hope the Mainstream Media gives him his just due like
they did with the likes of Prince and Tom Petty, when it had
wall to wall coverage of their passing. He definitely deserves
that kind of send off for what he brought to the music community
over 40+ years.

It was odd to see Neil playing jazz with a standard kit.
