       Shazam! is exactly what I expected the movie to be. Just based
       on the trailer I knew it was going to be a lot lighter in tone
       than the rest of the DCU films and that is a good thing. The
       movie isn't bad, but it isn't great either. You can do "lighter"
       and not delve into complete parody, which Shazam! does do. It's
       as if they are actually making fun of the very genre they are
       trying to lift up. I think because this movie and the rest of
       the DCU are so far apart in tone, that actually putting them in
       the same universe just doesn't mesh like they want it to . Like
       I said, it's not a bad flick and I thought Zachary Levi was a
       good choice in the lead role. Can't really see anyone else that
       could pull it off. You should definitely check out the movie,
       but look at it more like Big Meets Greatest American Hero
       instead of any of the recent Comic Book flicks that have come
       out. You'll be better off for it.
