I really didn't know what to expect from Aquaman given the
sh*tty track record from the DCU (Man of Steel, BvS, Justice
League and Suicide Squad) with the lone winner being Wonder
Woman. Aquaman has never been a character I cared for. For me
it's a huge step down from the likes of Batman, Superman and
Wonder Woman. Although I did like the take on the character in
Justice League, in spite of a POS film. But can the character
carry a 2 hour flick? Yes and no. Now I don't have anything
against Jason Momoa at all. He's the only person on screen that
matters and actually delivers. My peeve (minor) is the amount of
Special FX. Yes, I know, you can't really make an Aquaman flick
without it. But it's sensory overload and after awhile, my brain
just couldn't take any more of it. It's a mash up of Avatar
underwater with a pinch of The Abyss. And then it turns into
this sort of Indiana Jones crusade for the King's Trident, which
I kinda liked because it was above water. And the ending, sh*t
man, they TOTALLY swiped the scene from The Karate Kid Part II.
I was totally prepared for Arthur to "honk" Orm's nose. No lie!
The movie is fun for the most part if you can get past the
mind-numbing amount of CGI. It's certainly better than most of
the other DCU flicks....except Wonder Woman which sits on top.
But yeah, Aquaman is worth a Rent.
