       Assassin's Creed (2016)

Assassin's Creed was the movie that would finally get the Video
Game to Film translation done right. I mean, the Trailer looked
great. I was moderately encouraged. And then the movie dropped
and all the reviews kept pouring in and it wasn't kind. My
enthusiasm for this movie went right out the window and I wasn't
looking forward to this at all. I did go into this with an open
mind and really approached this in an unbiased way. I took out
the fact that I'm a fan of the game series and would not be
comparing one medium to the other. Well, that's easier said than
done. Beyond the convoluted plot, pacing and characters, my
biggest problem is how much time is devoted to Present Day. What
makes any Assassin's Creed game so much fun to play is being
thrown back in time and living out a life you would never get to
live. But in the movie....it's quite the opposite. Very little
takes place in the 1400's which is just baffling to see play
out. Sure, I'm mindful that playing the game is going to make
more sense because you have 20-30 hours of game time to get
across the plot which a 2 hour movie will not be able to do.
Also, for non-fans coming into this, they are surely going to
get lost. But still, if cross-cutting is an absolute must to
make it easier to digest....they could still devote a lot more
screen time to the past than what we get here. One last thing,
the movie as a whole is just boring from start to finish.
Unmemorable. Skip the movie and just play the game instead.

I saw a clip where Michael Fassbender jumps from one carriage to
another. It was seven takes. That's when they lost me.

That sounds better than the movie I watched.
