I had zero interest in checking out Keeping Up with the Joneses
going as far back as when the trailer dropped. Only reason why I
ended up with a DVD Copy from my library is because there was
nothing else to watch. As for the movie itself, it's a very
predictable plot that I have seen thousands of times before.
Really not sure how this was even given a theatrical push
because the end results were more on par with direct-to-dvd
releases. But since there were big names (i use that term
loosely here) attached with Zach Galifianakis, Jon Hamm, Isla
Fisher and Gal Gadot, of course it would get some kind of push
in spite of the poor results here. As a whole, the movie was
meh, but I'd be lying if I said there weren't a few laugh out
loud spots. Just not enough here to recommend this to anyone.
Really scratching my head with Jon Hamm and the choices he has
made since Mad Men finished its run. He has starred in clunky
films like this and is now doing commercial work. The guy should
be king of Hollywood by now given the amount of talent he has.
Go figure.

I forgot that this was a film that exists. I can't remember if
it or Masterminds was the one that had been held back, as in "it
was supposed to come out much earlier, but no one liked it."
Haven't seen the film yet, so I can't comment on it. And while
I agree that Jon Hamm is talented, I don't know many places
where that talent can be used effectively. He was around for a
long time before Mad Men, it just happened to be the perfect fit
for him.
