Finding Dory had a lot to live up in trying to match the stellar
Finding Nemo

/>This is a Pixar flck, so I knew that it would be another winni
ng
project for the team. What I didn't expect to see was a movie
that in my eyes and ears surpasses Nemo. I loved Finding Dory
for all the obvious reasons. Amazing FX of course is at the top,
but it's the Voice Acting by everyone involved from Ellen
DeGeneres and Albert Brooks to Ed O'Neill, Kaitlin Olson, Ty
Burrell, Diane Keaton and Eugene Levy. I thought it was
kind of brilliant to get Sigourney Weaver as a Theme Park
announcer. I'm sure that when she saw the movie for the first
time, she no doubt was grinning from ear to ear. As great as all
this is, for me, the one true stand out here is the Story. It's
gut wrenching at times watching Dory trying to find and
forgetting her parents that she lost long ago. It's hard not to
get a little teary-eyed by the end. I may have gotten my copy
from the Library, but you can bet your last dollar I will be
buying this to add to my personal Library. Loved every second of
every frame of this movie. I can't say enough good things about
it. Get it!

Something I love about these movies is how well they make the
fish work in a world that's not suited to them. i constantly
think "how is Dory going to get from a to b?" and they find a
brilliant way of doing it. There's so much tension and surprise
in this because everything could go wrong in an instant and if
it does, there's nothing they can do about it. You know that
it's a cartoon and everything will work out, but they manage to
surprise you with HOW it works out. I think that's great.
I love the Aquarium... I also love that the WHOLE thing was
built in the computer, even rooms we didn't see. That way, if
the narrative made them take a different path, they could take
it. It's like a video game, they have that whole world to
explore.
Obviously, being a special needs kid, this really pulled at my
heartstrings. I can appreciate what Dory's parents are going
through as well as Dory's struggle to interface with the world
around her.
