It was great... that whole "square peg round hole" was me so
recently, I wish I could have made @ss of myself the way Jimmy
did, not giving a d@mn and not caring about the future. I love
that struggle of him trying to balance out trying to be good and
honourable with his own slimy talents.
One thing I was surprised by was how humanizing they made Tuco.
I kept thinking he would be good in something like Star Trek,
and lo and behold he WAS in Star Trek, an episode called "The
Siege of AR-558" which is a classic but I haven't seen it in a
while.

What a fantastic Season Premiere! You know, what seems like a
full calendar year, I have been trying to guess how they would
reveal "who" left the 'Don't' sign on Mike's car. In my mind, I
think I ended up just thinking it was going to be a fast reveal
right then and there out in the field and boy am I ever glad
they didn't go down the easy route. The way the entire episode
was structured around Mike and how he would turn the very
tracking device he finds in his car from a deficit to a positive
so as to track those spying on him is brilliant writing and
furthermore, we got another episode that showcase and highlight
just how smart, cagey, crafty and cunning Mike is at what he
does. It just elevates his character even more. Loved it. Now to
Saul/Jimmy. The opening 'Present Day' scene at the Cinnabon was
great. You can take the man out of the Lawyer, but you can't the
Lawyer out of the Man. When Saul blurts out to the shoplifter to
get a lawyer, he does so knowing full well he puts his own life
in jeopardy. So much for WitPro. One last thing, I was kind of
disappointed that it wasn't Tyrus that swapped out the Tracking
device since my money was on him being the next in line for the
BB reveal.

FINALLY! Gus Fring is BACK baby! Man, this episode is what I
have been waiting for since the day it was announced that there
would even be a 'Better Call Saul' and it didn't disappoint one
bit. For me, watching this episode was vintage Breaking Bad from
start to finish. And what would you expect with Vince Gilligan
handling the directing chores. He was the only choice for this
episode and it paid off BIG TIME. The only reveal to Gus was
fantastic. They kept teasing it and making it last and then we
finally see a blurred out image of a man wiping down tables far
off in the distance as the camera was in a close up of
Jimmy/Saul. And then he was out of frame only to finally get the
full reveal helping Jimmy retrieve his lost watch from the trash
can. I LOVED this scene because it also showcased Jimmy's
ability to ad lib by purposely losing his watch knowing full
well that it would give him an 'out' to explain why he was going
through the garbage. But it's the final shot of Gus'
face....that all too familiar "Don't f*ck with me' look he
always got in Breaking Bad that made his return EPIC! I knew
that Mike was now made and that he wouldn't be able to track any
further. Having the Tracker and Gas Cap with a Cell Phone on top
in the middle of the highway was the perfect way to close out
Mike's story for this episode.
Not to be outdone was Chuck's plan to bait Jimmy into breaking
into his house to destroy the tape coming to fruition. Having
witnesses was the kicker of the entire scene at the realization
that Chuck once again got the better of him, which is a sad
thing to admit to. Time and again, Chuck will always have his
number and that's one of the reasons why he's never going to
measure up to him in Chuck's eyes. All around...and great
f*cking episode. We even got an extra treat with the return of
Victor (Jeremiah Bitsui), who played Gus' enforcer in Breaking
Bad.

Another fantastic episode that picks up where we left off the
previous episode. We finally get the first face to face meeting
between Mike and Gus. This was pure Breaking Bad. The entire
episode was reminiscent of the best Breaking Bad episodes ever.
Even though we only get one scene with Gus at the start, his
presence is there the entire time with Mike now seemingly
working for Gus and doing his inventive best to sabotage
Salamanca's Truck Deliveries. Man, this is going to be a very
exciting and fun season. Not to be outdone is Jimmy being
arrested, sent to Jail and looking for a way to dig out of his
hole. I kinda know where this is going with Chuck gunning to
take away Jimmy's ability to be a Lawyer...thus his eventual
name change to Saul. That's how I see it happening.

Sabrosito

I don't know how Vince Gilligan and the rest of the creative
team behind BCS continue to impress me with each new episode.
Last week there was a clear shift into Breaking Bad territory.
In Sabrosito, we are clearly into BB mode with the surprise
addition of Don Eladio (Steven Bauer), last seen in BB getting
whacked by Gus Fring. In the opening scenes for this episode,
it's Hector Salamanca that pays him a visit and we see the seeds
of contempt already festering at the mere mention of Gus' name.
In BB, there is a seething animosity between Gus and Salamanca.
So, to finally get to see their first face to face (on BCS), it
was electric. Also great was seeing Mike getting a formal
invitation to work for Gus and I never thought about it until
their scene together tonight that it was their mutual hatred of
Salamanca that drove Mike and Gus together. Not to be outdone,
the scenes with Jimmy were great. Now Kim and Jimmy have their
ace in the hole (the admission of a duplicate tape). My guess is
that Mike will be tasked with retrieving it for Jimmy.

No Gus Fring. No Mike Ehrmantraut. No problem. As fun as it is
to see Gus and Mike together, I was a bit worried that they were
going to overtake the thunder from Jimmy/Saul. My worries were
unfounded as Chicanery delivered an Emmy-worthy episode that
will garner a lot of people acting, writing and directing
awards. This was just so damn good. Simply put, Chicanery is
just about Jimmy Vs Chuck set in a Courtroom as Jimmy fights to
save himself from disbarment as Chuck looks to finally put him
"in his place". This was riveting stuff from start to finish
that ends with a corker of a swerve (which by the way, I saw
coming a mile away) to close out the episode. Think along the
lines of A Few Good Men, in which Michael McKean has his own
"You Can't Handle The TRUTH" moment. Mike has been good in every
single episode he is in and THIS is sure to get him an Emmy for
this one. It's that damn good. Love love love this episode. So
awesome to see Lavell Crawford as Huell Babineaux who would of
course go on to become Saul's Bodyguard in Breaking Bad. The way
they are rolling out the cameos has been pitch perfect.
