The last time we talked about Dredd was back in 2012

/>Yep. It literally took my Library 5 f*cking years to finally g
et
a copy of the movie into rotation at my Branch. WTF! In the
years of waiting for a copy, I would check out the Library
system a couple of times a year just to see what the hold up
was. Well, to my astonishment, it finally arrived a couple of
weeks back as I immediately put in my request on the Hold List.
It arrived today and now I can finally get on with doing a
review for this one! 'Bout f*cking time! So, was it worth the
wait? Hmmm. Yes and no. I think my exposure to the campy
Stallone version of Judge Dredd pretty much set me up into
thinking that Dredd would follow suit and be more of the same,
especially the futuristic sci-fi aspect the universe it in
habits. Dredd couldn't be any further off the well-worn path.
This one reminded me a lot of Escape from New York with a good
dosage of Assault on Precinct 13.
The thing I wasn't expecting (besides how scaled down the
environment was) was the partner being some psychic chick who
reminded me a lot of the PreCogs from Minority Report. I don't
remember this being in the Stallone version or if this was ever
in the comics and just a new character all together. Anyway, the
movie isn't without its faults, but there was enough there on
the screen to keep me engaged and entertained from start to
finish. Some really cool 'bullet time' slow motion shots to
impress even the most jaded people with regards to FX. Also, I
had no idea, or I just forgot, that Lena Headey was in this.
Definitely worth checking out. It's a decent flick and I'd
probably watch it again if I came across it while channel
surfing.

Yup. This wasn't the only movie that has been stuck in
non-rotation hell. There are a handful of flicks that I've been
waiting for years to get into circulation and suddenly, here
they are. Another one that was finally released along with Dredd
at the same time was Kick-Ass 2

/>which I had to wait 4 years to make its way to my Library.
