So, it literally took my Library 4 f*cking years to get this on
DVD! They don't have a problem ordering the most obscure titles
on the planet, but they can't order this when the DVD first
comes out? For the longest time, whenever I checked my Library's
New Releases, this was at the top of my list because I wanted to
finish the series up to that point. After awhile, I just stopped
caring and forgot all about this movie. Now, with that said, the
reason why I wanted to see Resident Evil: Retribution so bad was
because of the trailer and the fact that they were hyping up
characters that were long gone, returning once again. Fast
forward to tonight. I was completely and totally confused by
what I was watching. I haven't seen any of the other Resident
Evil flicks in ages and I remember zero. Even with the
"previously...." opening montage to get people caught up to
everything that has happened in the films, I was still lost. I
know that Alice is in a virtual simulation underground and is
fighting to get out with the help of said characters from
previous installments. What is unclear (or I just never caught a
good enough explanation) was whether the events we have
witnesses never happened or not. Anyway, there are some really
cool Set Pieces and Special FX, but the story is just meh. It's
basically Escape from New York, Escape from Moscow and Escape
from D.C. Can't recommend this.
