Ugh. I hate Rachel. How can I hate her when she is played by the
amazing Tatiana Maslany? That's the brilliance of her acting.
She is so good in her portrayal of Rachel at being evil that
it's kind of a mind f*ck for me because on the flip-side I have
nothing but compassion for characters like Cosima and Helena.
But getting back to Rachel, her arc has been really interesting,
but the thing that fascinates me is that she isn't the Big Bad
of the series. We are led to believe she was when her character
was first revealed. She's not. We are led to believe that it's
her mother Susan. She's not. We are led to believe that Evie Cho
is. She's not. Now we are left with P.T. Westmorland as the 'Man
behind the Curtain', who we never see and is the cliffhanger
that ends Season 4. Overall, this season was good, but there was
a slight slip from previous seasons because of a couple of
factors. First, the pacing was a bit slower than I'd like it to
be. It took awhile for things to get going. Second, very little
Helena this season. For me, this was an even bigger issue than
the pacing because she was and is my favorite clone character.
Love her. But, with that said, the return of Krystal more than
makes up for her disappearance. She is by far the funniest of
the bunch. I'm so glad they didn't kill her off last season.
Since this is the first time I've been able to watch the series
as it aired, I got a bonus in discovering that there was / is an
after-show called After The Black. The format is exactly like
that of Talking Dead. It's only 30 minutes long, but it airs
immediately after each episode where stars come on and talk
about it, etc....Turns out that this is the second season they
did this with. So, I just read that Orphan Black has been picked
up for a 5th and Final Season. Can't wait to see how this all
ends. Highly recommend checking out Season 4 before it all comes
to a dramatic conclusion. Season 4 of Orphan Black and After The
Black can currently be found on On Demand. All episodes for both
are available right now.
