       Casey Neistat

You may or may not know the name Casey Neistat, but you damn
sure will recognized both Bike Lanes and / or Snowboarding with
the NYPD. I discovered Casey is a very unique way. I remember
seeing both videos when they first dropped at their respective
dates, but I A) didn't know who did it and B) didn't know they
were by the same person. I never investigated. I watched the
video, enjoyed it and moved on. It was maybe 3 weeks ago I was
doing a search on YouTube, looking for Wide Angel Lens for my
camera that I stumbled on another YouTuber's review of a Lens I
was interested in. In that person's Recommended Feed, I saw
another of his videos breaking down the 'Gear' that Casey used.
I watched his breakdown and it was interesting, but I decided
that I needed to go to the actual source and see what all the
fuss was about and that's how I landed on Casey's YouTube page
and realized who he was. Since then I have been checking out a
few of his Vlogs on a daily basis and the guy really is good at
what he does. What's really fascinating is seeing how much of a
celebrity he is around the States because of what he does. Very
inspiring to see him crank out high quality stuff every day.
On a technical standpoint, I am very impressed by his commitment
to do a daily Vlog everyday. He releases new content every
morning. There is a lot of work going into these Vlogs and he
makes them so damn interesting and entertaining. I was never one
to check out any YouTubeer that did Vlogs because a lot of them
are really bad and worst of all.....boring. But Casey has it
down cold. He knows how long each shot should be and when to cut
away to the next. He uses music in a great way and there is
always something new and different with each Vlog to keep you
coming back for more. The best thing about them is that they are
very short. Your in and out and able to move onto something
else. Watching his Vlogs reminded me of my own that I did for a
College Course in Graphic Arts and Designs and one of the test
we had to do was having to do a "Day in the Life" short film
that had to utilize certain camera moves, shots, narration,
etc....As I remember it, this was back in 2007 I think. Anyway,
back on point, check out some of his videos over here

Just like I did with Bike Lanes and Snowboarding, I caught this
video when it dropped and had no idea this too was at the hands
of Casey. This guy creates a lot of Viral Videos. Check out all
3 videos. They are short, entertaining and informative.

       Hahahahahahahaha.
A little background info is needed before you click on play.
Casey uses a wide assortment of tools to make his films. He has
the typical DSLR camera, point and shoot pocket camera, cell
phone camera and a handful of GoPro cameras. But the cherry on
top are drones for getting those insane money shots. He is
always trying out new drones, looking for that sweet spot that
has high quality video, reliability and doesn't break the bank.
On a personal note, I have been looking into getting a drone the
last 6 months for myself because I want to shoot some stuff of
my town. Well, Casey finally met his match in the first video
and it's the one thing that actually gives me pause to rushing
out and buying one (until I have a firm grasp of what is needed
of me to control one). What happens here is f*cking priceless
and damn funny. The followup video is just as entertaining.
Leave it to Casey to actually include a GoPro on a
rope.....Well, you'll just have to watch them to find out what
       the f*ck I'm talking about.

I've watched a lot of Casey's past videos since discovering his
channel because they are insanely addicting to watch and with
that, you definitely get a sense of his style and how he edits
and whatnot. He is definitely a trend setter and I do see a lot
of other YouTuber's aping his style and with that, there is no
shortage of people offering "tutorials" on how to mimic his
style. This one in particular is really good because it's damn
funny. However, I do think that you do have to watch a few of
Casey's videos to understand the inside jokes that Sara is
making to truly get the most out of the jokes. I'm sure the
video can stand on it's own, but you will be losing something
       going into this cold.

       Priceless.

So, a little over 2 weeks ago, Casey had brought up his
itinerary that he would be traveling all over the globe for the
next 6 weeks, starting with driving cross country to take Owen,
his son, to college. His travel vlogs are always fun to watch
and this got his massive following pumped up to see unfold. We
got the road trip vlogs and then out of nowhere, Casey, after 2
years of daily uploading said he was taking 2 weeks off to enjoy
with his Candice, his wife while in Venice. I knew that this
wasn't going to play well with his followers, myself included.
When you get used to and expecting new content, it's kind of a
shock when there isn't anything waiting in your YouTube feed.
Well, Casey finally started doing his daily vlogs 3 days ago and
all is right in the world again. But I had to point out, that
everyone needs to unwind and unplug. It's healthy, in body, mind
and soul. I can't fathom ever doing what he does every single
day for 2 straight years. Taking time for yourself is a good
thing and I have noticed that the last couple of vlogs have some
pep in his step. He's energetic and determined, He's glad to be
back as is the rest of his followers are. So, moral of the story
is to do whats right for you and not worry about others
demanding more of you, because in the end, you're going to be
better off for it, no matter what it is you do in life.

I mentioned a few post back how there are a lot of "Tutorials"
out there on Casey's style and technique. This video zeroes in
on how he goes about telling his story. What's funny is that
when I got into Casey's backlog of videos, I did the same thing
without really thinking about it. I took mental notes of what
Casey was doing, seeing certain patterns he was following, how
he edits and how he manipulates music, etc.... Everything that
is discussed here, I already knew, but it's kind of fun to watch
someone else "teach" something I already figured out. This video
and the guy doing it, does a great job of pinpointing Casey's
crucial steps and why they work so well.

Proof positive that you don't need to be a master artist to
effectively tell a story. I like the minimalist approach. The
video is a year old and just found it now. Still going through a
treasure trove of stuff of his. Always finding new gems.

This is insane! I know that Private Jets have sh*t like this, I
just never knew that commercial Jet Liners pimped out their
planes to this extent. FYI, I'm a plane noob. I've only been on
two flights in my life, the last being in 1995. So I have very
little knowledge of what is actually out there with regards to
planes. As for Casey, with the amount of air travel he does, he
likes to show off the planes he is on and what they offer. Up
till now, the winner was definitely Virgin Atlantic....until
       this video. Sheesh!

  HTML https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cf16mp6Nbh8
Looks like GoPro is releasing its own Drone and it looks
amazing. I've been on the hunt for one of my own and this may be
the one to get. Casey is the guy to check out when it comes to
drone footage, and he tells it like it is. If it sucks, he will
say it sucks and if he likes it, then you know you're getting a
high quality product. While watching the video, I was certain
this was going to cost more than the Phantom IV. For what the
Karma does, with it's speed, its own dedicated controller with
built-in LCD screen and the portability, which is a HUGE selling
point for me, I'm shocked that the price point is well below
that of the Phantom IV. Cool and fun video to watch.
