Wait, so Go Daddy is not official. If you buy XYZ.com, someone
else can take it?
How?
What is the trademark against?

It's not legal. Getting a Trademark is akin to getting your band
name notarize with official documents. Go Daddy is nothing more
than a public signup sheet. I'm not an expert in this, so you
really need to call their office and hearing it from the horses
mouth before you go any further. Better to be safe than sorry.
Who knows, they may have good news and tell you it is an
alternative.

So we agreed upon a name. Until it’s written in stone, I’ll
reserve publishing it. We are going to approach an individual
that has the dot com we want. He’s not really using it. We have
a plan B if that should fail.
So I thought I asked this before. I don’t see anything in a
search. I would like to build the site. I’ve been using WIX. It
has great templates, easy to use, update, etc. It’s free. Thus
it does have a unique web address. They do offer to link to your
registered domain, but that’s like $4/month. Until we go on
world tour, have limo’s and groupies, I ain’t payin’ some
monthly fee.
So is there sites to give you the tools to build your person
website and export it to the domain we purchase?

You could do a search on YouTube for Website building and add
tutorial into the mix and you should get a nice sizable return.
Yes, you'll have to sit down and watch some of them to see if
the programs are what you're looking for and whatnot.

Mac and the Cheeses.

So what is the current state of affairs of pictures on the
internet?
I’d like to build our website using mostly graphics. I mean
there is not much to talk about the band except the basics of
who we are and where we are playing. I’ll use free fonts, that
much I know.
So can I use photos, any photos, I find on the web? OK, I know
logos and proprietary images are forbidden, but what about joe
blow that has taken a picture of a guitar or clouds or some
such. Can I use them?
I’ve already looked up free public photos and those are anything
but free.
I’m also not using these images to make money, like a product.
Just to dress up a web page.
Am I being stupid here? This is something you just don’t do?

I don't think grabbing random images online even matters,
especially if you are not selling it for profit. Besides, with
everything out there, how can anyone possibly monitor what a
Website has? I think you are fine if all you are doing is just
'dressing up' your site. Granted, once you start to make a name
for yourself and get a following, you may want to swap out any
images that you didn't personally take for your own. Not for
legal reasons, but simply for the fact that it would look tacky
and cheap if some of your fans recognize the images belonging to
someone else.
