What a great, fun movie. Waited a long time to see Guardians of
the Galaxy and it was well worth the wait. There were A LOT of
surprises waiting for me. What's not to dig about this movie?
Love the set design of everything. The world they created here
was fantastic and I now understand why it has been labeled this
generations own "Star Wars". But you need more than just cool
looking sets to make a movie. It's the characters that make this
one hum along for me. The interaction between the 5 main
characters was great. Kinda surprised that my two favorite
characters would turn out to be CGI-created (Rocket and Groot).
Bradley Cooper was hella funny in this role and Vin Diesel was
channeling his inner Iron Giant. He doesn't say much, but when
he does, it works. Not to be outdone was the star making turn
(well, he was already a star in my book for what he does on
Parks and Recreation) was Christ Pratt. Dave Bautista and Zoe
Saldana were great as well. But Lee Pace was f*cking awesome as
Ronan. Was not expecting to laugh as much as I did. The inside
jokes were very funny. Footloose and Kevin Bacon in particular
had me grinning ear to ear.
Great story as well, which also surprised me in having a lot of
heart. The subplot about his mother was very touching, which
permeates the entire story. It's about family and
friends.....not just blowing sh*t up. It has that too. Plenty.
But there was something deeper than just explosions. Love the
characters and look forward to see their next adventure. But
what I'm really looking forward to seeing is their inclusion
with the other Avengers in the future. Anyway, I highly
recommend this as a Rent. Awesome soundtrack by the way. Dancing
Groot for the win!! Anyone else see the parallels between Groot
and Iron Giant and how both characters sacrifice themselves to
protect their friends. It's basically the same scene with the
same emotional connection and I loved it.

I still haven't revisited this... I wonder how long I'll have to
wait to get to like it (I do love Dancing Groot though, but I'm
       not made of stone).
You did happen to notice that the British dude who gave Andy
Dwyer his London job in Parks and Rec was in the Nova Corps,
       right?

Re-watched this tonight. How the hell did I not pick up on
Howard the Duck in the final scene to close out the end credits?
I must have been distracted in this split second the first time
       around.
