Retron 5

It's really weird seeing this so soon after reading "Console
Wars" where this technology, and the content, were both
contemporary an cutting edge. I've seen the Retron 3 for sale
at the bookstore, and it looked okay, but this is definitely a
step up... it supports a ridiculous amount of systems (NES,
SNES, Genesis, Master System, Famicom, Super Famicom, Game Boy,
Game Boy Colour, and Game Boy Advance) and all the old Game
Genie codes are in there since it's made by the same company
(you just go through a list and switch on what cheats you'd
like). I still have my old Game Boy cartridges, and just being
able to play those again would be great... and I'd love an
excuse to go shopping to try out some of the games I never had a
chance to play when I was a kid.
This is... you know how there's a "desert island list," what
you'd take with you on a desert island? I have a "time travel
list," the sort of thing I'd go back in time and give myself as
a kid to blow my mind (my iPod is on that list as well).
Seriously, imagine having this as a kid, invite ALL your friends
over and tell them to bring ALL their games, it doesn't matter
what system they have.
I gotta say... this picture is SO freakin' gorgeous.

Here's another video showing the hardware in action, which games
work, etc.

It'd be really neat if someone could figure out how to mess with
the game code so that the game could fill the whole 16:9 screen,
expanding the "lens" to show more of the level rather than crop
or stretch. That'd be fantastic.
