I don't know if it's because I'm so aware of Walker because of
the FF franchise, or it's because he was so young, or that he
was that great of a guy, but I'm hearing a lot of news about
him.

All of the above. I remember the first time I saw him, where I
actually noticed him as an actor was on Highway To Heaven. I may
have seen him in earlier stuff, but I don't recall. But it was
that episode where I took notice that the kid could really act.
Ever since then I have been following his career.
