Riley Cooper gets fined
HTML http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nfl--riley-cooper-s-racial-slur-merits-more-than-fine-from-eagles--063307403.html
This is not politics. This is not sports. This current events.
So I just found out about the whole Riley Cooper of the Eagles
thing. It obviously went viral because this dumbass was stupid
enough to be drunk, vocal and caught on camera saying the
N-word. I’ve always have conflicted with the notion of a double
standard with regards to Blacks and Whites and the use of the
N-word.
This is Racism.
rac•ism [rey-siz-uhm]: the belief that races have distinctive
cultural characteristics determined by hereditary factors and
that this endows some races with an intrinsic superiority over
others.
I’m in the camp, either we all can or cannot do something. You
cannot separate out by race.
Ultimately it is a horrible word. It is a word though. Words
can’t curve the spine or kill anyone. I could go into a whole
rant about the F word. Why is that series of letters offensive
and Frickn’ is not. Like Louie C.K. says, just people saying
“the N-word”, we all now have in our brains what the actual word
is. It’s soooo silly.
What I have my panties all in a bunch about is the aftermath.
The Eagles have fined Cooper for this incident. Let’s take a
closer look at this. Some people decided another person
committed a ‘crime’, and indiscretion and is punishing that
person. A White person. If you have a Black person standing next
to him saying the same exact thing, absolutely nothing would
have happened. So are the Eagles legislating thoughts and being
discriminatory at the same time. Yes.
I believe we been have dancing on the edge for quite some time,
but this act of fining for using a racial slur by a white person
has stepped way out of bounds. I cannot believe this isn’t being
challenged from a legal standpoint. Especially if this is
setting a precedence.
In my mind, nothing should have been done by the organization.
Let Riley Cooper deal with the consequences of his actions by
his own Black teammates and the members of the opposing teams.
When I dated some black women, the discussion of the N-word
popped up on occasion, but in very clear, short response was, we
can say it. You cannot. Period. I could not argue it. But you
know what, as time goes on, I say Phuck that. I don’t want to
get into debates, because I don’t believe we will ever change
the position of folks on this. But you know what, I’m also not
going to worry about it. What I am going to defend is freedom of
speech. Do not start fining people for the use of word. And you
go down the path of being discriminatory against, any race, I’m
getting very concerned and voice my thoughts.
Can you tell I'm ****ed about this double standard?

This is kind of "old news". I was going to post the TYT video
where they go into detail about their thoughts on the subject
matter and how it is a double standard. As for fining him, there
was speculation before the "verdict" was handed down that he
would in fact be released outright from the team. If he isn't
challenging the ruling, I would surmise that the team owner
approached him privately and gave him 2 choices, A) Be released
from the team, contract terminated or B) take the fine and suck
it up publicly with no further actions.
In either case, the team has to look good to its current and
potential customers as well as the other players. Whatever
choice he made, the Team and its Owner comes out looking like
the "good guy" for having "dealt with" the situation.

Like I said, setting a precedence. Walking on razors here. If
the NFL or any sports affiliation is feeling god like, that crap
needs to stop now. Look at what happened to Sandusky and whole
college ball environment.
I would like to know what the contract says or what legal
avenues they are taking to say they can terminate him.
Post the video. I would love to see it.

I think it's standard to have in place in all contracts 'Conduct
Unbecoming of an Athlete' as they are representing both the Team
and the City.
