Re: Whose Line is it Anyway? (Season 10 - 2013)

Based on my own self-impose hype of wanting it to be just like
the good old days.....a major letdown. Big time. A couple of
solid episodes, but the rest of either been hit or miss or just
flat out sucked donkey balls.

A few weeks behind on the show. So, just watched the episode
with the two football chicks from the Lingerie League. They of
course look amazing. Yowza! But beyond them looking incredibly
hot, the episode itself was horrible. Everyone was particularly
bad. The two chicks were really bad. Bad as in watching a train
wreck in slow motion. Ugh. I think there is just one episode
left for me to watch, but even if it turns out to be the
greatest episode ever, as a whole, this season sucked enough
that I think they need to retire the show once and for all. The
only way I can see getting excited for the show again would be
to bring back some of the former players from its best years.

Sounds like you really need to revisit the golden years.

No. That's the problem. I cherry pick clips and skits from those
golden years and it just makes this season look incredibly weak.
Maybe if I wasn't watching clips, it would make this
season....."better".

From what I've seen from the new season, any full ep of the old
series would rock. I still think that they're just taking a
half hour and expecting it to be good instead of doing two
forty-five minute sessions and trimming 'em down (the LAST
"season" was made of the leftovers from those tapings and
they're pretty lousy).

I wonder if part of the stagnation also has to do with a smaller
common pool of knowledge to draw upon... the old series had a
bunch of mainstays they went to (Star Wars, Titanic, the
horrible 2000 election kerfuffle), but not as much as The
Exorcist, there's just-- what can we assume the cast is saavy
enough to know enough about to play off of? I mean, you can
probably take any big name movie and turn it into a game (Colin
as the girl in the Hunger Games, the Avengers rap, number of
words Game Of Thrones, and so on and so on)

Well that's kind of the problem with this season. There is a ton
of sh*t that is tailor-made to mock and make fun of, but they
keep going back to the same damn thing. For most of the season
there has been this over reliance of using the Exorcist as their
crutch and ironically enough, there was a running Star Wars gag
throughout the entire episode (the one with the two football
chicks). If their excuse as to why they aren't using current
media to broaden their knowledge (bag of tricks), then they
should turn in their Stand-Up Comedy Badge if they are not
willing to prep and do the work. A comedian, even one that
ad-lib's and does improv comedy, has to be aware of what's hot
and new and current. That's what comedy is all about. I
guarantee you that if Don Rickles was a guest on the show, he
would absolutely be able to use current stuff and make it work.

"I dunno, I dunno, hey big shoes, they miss you over at the
giraffe preserve? Ah forget it, just do me a favor, lose the
deer in the headlights look, okay, sonny? This is the stage,
people wanna see a show."

My All-Star cast on Whose Line Is It Anyways would be Don
Rickles, Richard Pryor, George Carlin and Sam Kinison. Now THAT
would be awesome to see these cats riffing off one another on
the same stage together with the same games that this season is
failing at, I'd pay 1k for one ticket to see it live. Too bad
3/4 of that lineup is gone.
