There just only so much they can do with the same gag. Each week
it's a variation on "now your in the movie The Exorcist". "Now
your in a Supernatural film", etc....
       See what I mean?

This is why you need writers... even though it's a sketch show,
they need clever people to come up with the premises for the
performers to play off of. I feel like they skrimped on that
       this year.

Gah... Good point. I could easily see them missing what made the
show great before. Hey, we have the talent on stage... They'll
make it work. We don't need ideas from the back do we. Is that
how the past episodes did it?

What's ironic is that the 'Helping Hands' skit uses basically
the same props and set up, but it boils down to what the content
will be and each time they do it, it seems to use the same set
up and beats. Yet, it seems fresh every time they do it. I never
once will question why they keep 'going back to the well' as I
am with Sideways Scene. I still think some of the things they do
within the set up is funny. But with Aisha barking out different
versions of the same thing is becoming to noticeable to ignore
now. Not blaming her as she is only reading from the cards. If I
hear later on that she is in fact helping with the writing, then
yeah, she will be partly to blame. But as of now, she gets a
pass because I think they get their ideas from the audience
members before the show starts taping. Usually they give those
waiting in line to get inside the studios cards to fill out
pertaining to the show as a way to kill time to make the wait
       time a lot less painful.
Some of the shows that I've seen live did things that were
similar, but with questionnaires. Anything to take our minds off
the idea that we were standing around all day long, waiting to
       get in.

Wow, it literally took 7 episodes before they finally busted out
one of my favorite skits they use on the show and that's News
Flash where they have Colin standing in front of a Green Screen
and he has to guess what's being projected behind him. In this
case it was Dental work and it was BRUTAL. Talk about everyone
getting super queasy which made it all the more better.
But the winner of the night goes to Wayne for his Song Style as
Justin Timberlake as he sang to Lisa Leslie. It was AWESOME,
especially when Lisa broke the rules of the game by questioning
one of his lyrics. You HAVE to see what he does to get it all
       back on track. Brilliant.

Episode 8 is quite possibly the worst episode ever in its entire
series history. That was bad all around. Even 'Helping Hands"
more or less sucked by having Keegan picking up props, handing
them to Colin as well as talking waaaaaay too much to the point
of stepping on Ryan's lines. Well, lines that he tried to get
out of his mouth. Sideway Scene was another bust. It was so bad
that it barely even made it to the 1 minute mark before they
buzzed out the skit all together. Sure enough, after the opening
'Prison escape' in the scene, Aisha calls out "okay, you guys
are in a horror scene". Really? Are you STILL going to go there?
       F*ck!
What's in the bag was also another failure. Everything about
this episode was a train wreck and I barely cracked a smile
during the 30 minute episode. If the rest of the episodes are
like this, I will be calling it quits. I have another episode to
watch, but after this latest episode, I am in no hurry to watch
       the next one. Sigh.

The fact that I don't feel like I'm missing anything by not
seeing this show is a REAL f'ing shame. I guess the original
was lightning in a bottle 9granted, a bottle that lasted a LONG
time) but they've been trying and trying to bring it back in
various guises over the years and it doesn't sound like it's
       working.

Well, there are only so many ways to riff on the same idea
before one begins to swipe from previous episodes. I also think
that Aisha is part of the problem as well. I wasn't a Drew Carey
fan by any stretch, but he did bring something to the table that
she has not be able to do thus far. Also, they need to bring
back past players like Greg Proops, Brad Sherwood and Chip
Esten. I get why Esten would be a no show, but what the f*ck are
Proops and Sherwood doing that is so damn important that they
       can't stop by?

I think they're trying to transition in these new guys so they
can phase out the old, expensive players.

Episode 9 is probably my favorite episode so far this season and
worlds better than last weeks.......weak offering. I'm kinda
shocked that it has taken 9 episodes to finally get to one of my
favorite bits and that's Greatest Hits. Both songs were awesome.
Props to Wayne Brady and Jeff Davis. But it's the set up by Ryan
and Colin that made it work.
The other truly funny skit of the night was Helping Hands with
Laila Ali. Veeeeeeeeeeeery funny. I was laughing so hard, tears
were rolling down my face. Thank you for a great episode. I was
really concerned for the series based on the previous episode.
