Anything is possible. I just read an article on a huge spread of
predictions for opening weekend. It's not science really and
somewhat unpredictable. There's a huge population who cherish
the original, but do they care 20 years later. The kids today do
not know about the hype and release of the original. They've
probably seen it, just not enamoured with it.
I still think it will be a very good opening. I'm biased. ID
will probably be one of the few films I go see at the theater

Oh man, Tracking is just unreliable voodoo, really. You can
gauge interest ahead of time, but you never really know 100% of
the time.
I gotta tell you, the Red Letter Media's re;view of the original
Independence Day, which I haven't properly seen in ages, is
making me want to watch the movie even more.

I probably watch it about once every few years. Got the blu-Ray.

Amazingly, I don't own this. And I always liked the movie.
I've seen it avery few years, which with my recall feels like
once every year.
Given that there won't be another movie I'll want to see in the
theater for another three weeks, I'll probably check this out in
the theater as well.
Edit: here's another great video, very pro-Independence Day.

Wow, that must have been a thesis for this reviewer.
anyway, I just watched the movie again. Ya know, when you watch
a movie a little too much, you start to notice things that may
degrade your impressions of the film. I might need to back off
watching it so much. Keep the magic alive.

Well...
F*ck
So disappointed. I started wondering what time it was. Ya
know... Looking at the clock. I actually may have dozed off.
Ya know how we talked about studio play books. Well Emmerich and
Devlin must have broke out the original script, add a dash here,
repeat this, make everything bigger. Way f*ucking bigger.
Ludicrous bigger. The new mother ship is sooooo big, it like a
hand holding a ball (earth). And it lands on Earth.
The scope of this was so big, I couldn't tell what was going on.
The fights were just video game mind boggling chaotic. ID2 was
like a mashup of the original, Starship Troopers, a video game
Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy and these stupid teen movies of
late (Divergent, Twilight, etc). All the pilots were super young
and spitting out cute comments while in battle.
Gawd, I guess I really hated this sequel. I have zero interest
in revisiting this. It certainly missed the magic of the
Original. I did not care about one character. Even the president
coming back seemed a tad mentally challenged.
