My money is on Mick Fleetwood coming back. Yes, he was
the founding member and just chose to remain in obscurity all
these years.
Huh?

I finally got to check out this 2 part, 4 hour documentary about
The Eagles and it was worth the time I put in to watch it from
start to finish. I've always dug the bands sound and there are a
few songs that will always be a part of my childhood memory
because they have been on the air one way or another since their
inception. But I'm not a die-hard fan like Mac is. This is HIS
band and I understand why that is. I was more of a fan of their
individual solo stuff more than the band, so I never really
delved into their backstory with any great depth. This doc
pretty much covers everything you will ever need to know. I'm
sure there are other documentaries out there about the band, but
I think it's safe to say this is THE definitive doc. Very
interesting to see and hear how certain dynamics within the band
shaped and destroyed relationships among themselves. The biggest
and most enlightening to see play out was of course Glenn Frey
and Don Felder's riff that could never be fully repaired. Even I
was shocked to see how Glenn is still harboring animosity toward
Don, especially the scene where he recounts the ultimatum he
issued to Don's lawyer about signing on the dotted line or he
was out of the band. As Mac pointed out, another great part of
the doc dives into Joe Walsh and how he came to join the band
and become the missing ingredient Henley and Frey were searching
for. Fast 4 hours. Definitely worth checking out. Watching this
doc was bittersweet because I was constantly reminded that Glenn
is no longer around.

Hey, glad you enjoyed that. Documentaries are not typically
entertaining. And folks, I think, either love or hate The Eagles
;)
So a new thought, to me, is Frey and Henley, made some harsh
decisions, an in hindsight for one of the most successful bands
in history. But does being a$$holes necessary?
Bottom line, I still like their music, but find the men are
dicks.

Not that you have alluded to it, but when the band got back
together, I do think it was right that Frey and Henley deserved
the lion's share of the money given the fact that they were
putting their solo careers on ice when the Eagles reconvened.
But that is naturally going to breed resentment and lead to the
outcome that eventually befell Felder. So, I wouldn't say they
are dicks because of that. Just smart business men that should
be paid accordingly. I'm still trying to figure out why the
Eagles are hated by so many people and loved by the other half.
I've never understood why there is so much hate for them.

Maybe it's like The Monkees or Disco. You really don't hate it,
but say you do.
Or maybe it's like Dylan or Jazz... You think you look cool by
saying you like it.
I dunno, I enjoy all their stuff. Just solid in everything.
