Up till now, I have avoided any and all Tattooing shows. It just
never interest me because there were/are so many different types
of shows that I really didn't know what was good and what was
bad. Well, I had some down time and I was browsing through my
Spike TV Channel via Plex on Roku and it was actually another
Tattoo show called Tattoo Rescue that I ended up checking out.
But there was only one episode up. So, I did some more digging,
seeing a handful of shows to choose from.
I knew Ink Master was the one that had Dave Navarro as host and
decided I'd finally give this a shot. Very impressed with this
show. It looks and plays exactly like Master Chef as this is a
$100,000 competition pitting Tat Artist against each other to
see who is the best. It has an elimination format meaning one
person gets kicked off the show if they are deemed the worst in
each round. So far, I'm impressed with a couple of the artist
that just after one episode blew me away. And there are a couple
that just absolutely suck and do not belong in this competition.

The title of the episode says it all. That was embarrassing. To
not be able to finish the job and leave it looking like that is
extremely unprofessional and that fact that he chose to do that
after winning the flash challenge. Yikes. Why put yourself out
there? Let someone else take the fall and do the hardest job.
What's interesting is hearing every artist come up with lame
excuses to circumvent what is being asked of them in the
challenge. I don't do this, I don't do that. Blah blah blah. If
you can't do everything, then why the f*ck do you think you
should be called Ink Master?

I use to watch (gawd, it must be years now) the LA Ink show. I
like it because of the stories the people brought in with them.
Not so much the tattooist themselves, while some were
interesting, it was 'everybody has a story' premise.

I remember that one, but never watched it. Is it still on? What
channel was it on? I may be able to dig it up on Roku and check
out some past episodes.

Actually I had it wrong. It was Miami Ink and then they had a
spin-off with Kat and made LA Ink, which I have not watched. The
series are cancelled. I thought they were on MTV, but looks like
they were on TLC.

Good God. I've never seen a bunch of whiners complaining about
how judging is being handled on a competition like this one.
Everyone and I mean EVERYONE has some lame excuse about why
their tattoos suck. I know why. It's because you guys do suck.
So far, there's only a couple of artist that are really bringing
their A-Game. Top dawg right now would have to be Shane.
I don't get how he was the only one that understood what the
challenge of Black To Grey (Gradient Shading) was. It's simple.
Black to grey. Sheesh! I'm glad that Al Fliction got the boot.
He was horrible, but you never would have guessed with the
amount of time he kept running his mouth. FYI, what a dumb name
too.
I loved the Flash Challenge at the beginning of the episode when
they brought out a bunch of naked chicks to basically be used
for body painting. Hubba hubba!!

Lea is coming back strong now. That Snow Leopard Tat was awesome
and she nailed it in the Photo-Realistic challenge. I think it's
gonna come down to her and Shane. But here's the thing, so far,
Shane hasn't done any color work on his tats. It's been nothing
but Black/Grey, which if you think about it, gives Lea the edge
because she is more well-rounded and if Shane doesn't dip his
needle in some color soon, it's gonna come back to bite him in
the ass. Not surprised to see Heather go. Horrible "Fireman's
Helmet". Get rid of Billy too. He's just as bad in both style
and whining.

Thank God they finally booted Billy from the show. He is a
horrible artist and never belonged in the competition and he
ALWAYS had an excuse why he couldn't do anything the judges
asked of him. I hope I never have to see him and his stupid soul
patch anywhere. Good riddance! Lea is back on shaky ground again
after that awful Pirate Ship tat. Ugh.

Oh man, that was BRUTAL. This was the challenge I have been
waiting for: Pin Up Girl Tattoo. Honestly, the only one in my
eyes that nailed it was Shane. He rocked the hell out of it!
Josh basically skated by without doing a true Pin Up and went to
a Cartoon look rather than realism. His tat colors looked great,
but I think he just cheated his way into the next round. Not
sure why the Judges didn't rip him a new one. The other tats,
especially by Lea and James were a joke. Lea arm and hand were
horrible and James, he gave his Girl 2 right feet! 2!!!! Yikes!
Lea gets the boot.
