I'm very interested in this book since I am a HUGE fan of
McFarlane. A couple of years ago I would have easily snapped up
the $100 Signed Copy of the book, but now, it's kinda out of my
price range. I think I will just stick with the non-signed
version at Amazon

Todd McFarlane's a weird one for me, on the one hand I was young
when his stuff came out so he definitely inspired me, but I also
have issue with his style in the 90s (I will modify that and say
I don't know the most recent of his work that I've seen).
Having said that, I'm checking out a Tumblr of his work and I do
love his sense of humour when it comes to homages and the like
(and he seems like an interesting guy, too), and I do remember
his messed up Wizard of Oz toys and that news bit a year or so
ago about how some movie company bought the rights to those toys
and would make a movie based on them, but of course you can't
actually make THAT movie so it wound up being a Ripley-style
Dorothy, which is cool but you didn't need THOSE toys and THOSE
rights to get you there, did you?
I don't buy art books any more (no money plus no room), but even
if I did I probably wouldn't buy this one, but I would TOTALLY
take a good hard long look through it as a trip down memory
lane. But my art tastes lie elsewhere.
Having said that, he did do the best webbing.

Well before I even think of dropping my cash on this, I need to
see more of what's inside. I do like that he is breaking it up
into a "picture book", an "autobiography book" and a "how to
book". So, you are getting 3 for 1. But I still need to see more
first. FYI, his spaghetti webbing is the industry standard now.

Thank you, I was trying to remember Liefeld's name.
Oh, as I'm searching Tumblr for Todd McFarlane, THIS brilliant
bit came up:

Oh yeah, and I knew McFarlane's webbing was standard, I was even
drawing it as a kid before I knew who any of these names were.

That cover of Spawn is still my favorite of his. I think I still
have 10 copies of that. Man, I was on a spending spree win Image
Comics exploded onto the scene. Good times....good
memories....horribly late. Haha.

I also think, having looked through Tumblr, a big part of it for
me is that I just don't dig satanic imagery, legions of hell and
decaying flesh and so on. It just never appealed to me,
probably because I never believed in hell, the whole lure of the
dark and forbidden just didn't work for me. It honestly feels
like the ultimate version of the "bad boys smoke" trope... bad
boys smoke... and burn.. FOREVER! I mean, a dimension of pain
and torment that lasts forever? Get real.

There's always his run on Spider-Man. When they created a new
title for McFarlane, I thought (at the time) his art was the
greatest thing ever, although the stories were just okay for me.
His art now is still fun to look at, but it doesn't have that
hold on me that it did when it first came out.

Todd rules....I think he's one of the best....and glad I'd got
to watch an important part of his career grow.
granted the spider-man years were magic...but Spawn early on was
pretty cool...albeit very dark/
