High Voltage (1975) and T.N.T. (1975) were the first 2 albums
released by AC/DC in Australia. Their 3rd release (1st
International) was AC/DC High Voltage (1976), which was nothing
more than a compilation of songs from their 2 Australian
releases. Angus Young on Lead Guitars, Malcolm Young on Rhythm
Guitar, Bon Scott on Lead Vocals, Mark Evans on Bass and Phil
Rudd on Drums. Also contributing is Tony Currenti on Drums and
George Young on Bass. Yes, he is brother to Angus and Malcolm.
As for High Voltage (1976), I love this one. But I'll be the
first to admit that I don't listen to it as much as I use to.
But listening to it now, it sounds fantastic and is a great rock
record. It's not perfect by any means. But it has some great
songs that require multiple spins. What's remarkable about
listening to this one now for the first time in a loooooooooong
time, is how little the band has change over the years. And I
love it for that very reason. I like that they have never tried
to "stay with the times" and jump on the latest music flavor of
the week to be "relevant" to the masses. So, if you have
listened to any newer AC/DC albums, then technically you have
heard High Voltage. Can I Sit Next To You Girl is just about the
coolest little boogie song you will ever hear. Why this isn't in
Rock Band is shameful.
Fave Songs: It's A Long Way To The Top, Rock N' Roll Singer,
Live Wire, T.N.T., Can I Sit Next To You Girl, Little Lover and
High Voltage. MVP goes to...Can I Sit Next To You Girl
I've never cared for the International Album cover. It is what
it is.

Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap opens up with one of the best tracks
ever for any album. The title track still kicks mucho ass. I
play this album a lot and it's directly tied into wanting to
hear this song over and over again. But the entire album is so
good from top to bottom. I still to this day crack up every time
I hear Big Balls. How that song made it onto vinyl given the
time it came out was pretty ballsy (pun intended) on the part of
the record company.
As much as I love Dirt Cheap, I think the last half of the album
is by far the best with There's Gonna Be Some Rockin', Ain't No
Fun (waiting Round To Be A Millionaire) , Ride On and Squealer
being my fave songs here. Ride On is about as close to a
"ballad" as you will ever get. The single Jailbreak was released
on their Australian version of the album and not the
International release. But it still deserves to have it's video
included here.
Fave Songs: Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, Love At First Feel,
There's Gonna Be Some Rockin', Ain't No Fun (waiting Round To Be
A Millionaire) and Ride On. Very difficult in picking an MVP. So
I'll say that all those listed in my Fave Songs get that honor.

Let There Be Rock to me is where Bon Scott really found himself
as a force to be reckoned with as a singer. Sure, many fans will
point to Dirty Deeds. But to me I just think that as a whole,
this album is much stronger, with tighter songs and singing. As
great as Dirty Deeds is, this one gets the edge IMO.
There are so many great tracks here. Go Down is a great way to
open the album. Dog Eat Dog and of course the title track Let
There Be Rock is about as primal as you can get here. And the
outro solo at the end of Let There Be Rock is still the best
solo on the album. It's so infectious that it makes me want to
take a break right now and pop in Rock Band 2 just so I can play
to it. Good stuff. I highly recommend this album to anyone that
hasn't already done so. This is my Halloween party right now.
The tracklist differs from the Australian version and that of
the International version. The Australian album contains
Crabsody In Blue, but on the International release, the song was
replaced with Problem Child.
Fave Songs: All of 'em. But I gotta go with Overdose and Whole
Lotta Rosie as the albums Co-MVP.
I prefer the International album cover which is what I got as a
kid and I consider it to be a classic. But the best AC/DC cover
is yet to come.

Powerage is touted by many AC/DC fans as being the best in the
Bon Scott years. It's a great album, but personally I wouldn't
go that far and say it's the best of that Era. Underrated...yes.
Best...no. Having said that, this is one I very rarely play
anymore. There's really not a whole lot to talk about here other
than that the 3 best tracks are down below.
Fave Songs: Rock N' Roll Damnation, Riff Raff and Sin City.
Album cover ftw! This one scared the shit out of me as a kid.
Angus getting electrocuted is enough to scar any kid that
doesn't know any better. The back cover is the UK version of the
vinyl. Take notice that the track list is completely different
with a song being omitted all together. Rock N' Roll Damnation
was never included on the UK release and in it's place is Cold
Hearted Man, which itself got replaced by the foremention song
on the US release of Powerage.

Rolling Stones 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time
Highway To Hell at #199

Highway To Hell is definitely the definitive AC/DC album in the
Bon Scott era. Everything was spot on from Angus' guitar playing
to Bon's vocals and the songwriting and production was top notch
as well. Robert John "Mutt" Lange production hands were all over
this. And there's one song in particular that always reminds me
of Def Leppard (or the other way around since AC/DC came
before.....). I'm talking about Touch Too Much. Listen to this
one and you will "get" how important production is and also, how
influential a song can be on other singers, i.e. Joe Elliot. I
have to disagree with Rolling Stones ranking of Highway To Hell
at #199. This is definitely Top 20 IMO.
It's a shame that this album is "tainted" with the whole Richard
Ramirez controversy with the song Night Prowler. For those that
have never heard about it, back in 1985, a Serial Killer was on
the loose terrorizing LA and once captured, the song was linked
to him as his favorite AC/DC song as well as being the impetus
for his mass killing spree. The song, even though it sounds
sinister had nothing to do with anything dark and ominous.

On a lighter note, the ending of Night Prowler always makes me
laugh with Bon's final recorded lyrics for the song and his
tenure with AC/DC. He was a fan of Mork and Mindy and ended the
song with Mork's catchphrase 'Shazbot, Nanu Nanu!'.
Highly recommend this one to anyone. If anyone ask me what to
start an AC/DC collection with, I gladly point to this one
first.
Fave Songs: All of 'em. Damn it's really hard to choose an MVP
here. But at the end of the day I gotta go with Highway To Hell,
Touch Too Much, Walk All Over You and Night Prowler as Co-MVP.
Album cover ftw!!! This is hands down the best cover for the
band and I put this as #5 on my all time favorite covers. As a
kid, there was a part of me that really thought that Angus had
horns. ;D

If You Want Blood You've Got It is a live album with Bon Scott
on lead vocals. The album itself was shot on film, which the
audio is taken directly from. But to this day, the footage has
never been released with the exception of Riff Raff and Fling
Thing / Rocker making it's way onto AC/DC Family Jewels DVD set.
I can't believe how old this Live album is. Sheesh. Has it
really been that long? 1978! This was back in the day when
EVERYONE was releasing Live albums, from KISS Alive! to Frampton
Comes Alive! to this. It's been so long since I have even
listened to this one and I had forgotten how great this album
was/is.
Fave Songs: All of 'em. MVP goes to...The Jack.
Album cover ftw! I remember seeing this on the shelf for the
first time and thinking..."Damn, Bon killed Angus! But at least
he went out doing what he loved". ;D

Family Jewels is a 2 Disc DVD set containing pretty much every
single music video and TV appearance of importance in their
career. The 3rd Disc containing a few TV appearance as well as
the newer music videos picks up where the original set leaves
off. The 3rd Disc can be found within the Backtracks box set,
which I don't have. Disc 1 is the Bon Scott years and Disc 2 is
the Brian Johnson years.
Overall, this is a fantastic set. This is the first time I have
watched it since the day I picked it up 5 years ago. And I have
a much better appreciation for this DVD set now, coming on the
heels of my AC/DC Marathon. Sounds and looks great. Highly
recommend this one.
Included with the DVD set is a 23 page booklet with a biography
about the band, TV appearances and music videos.
