I absolutely love this book. The main reason why I was even
interested in the relaunch of Batman and the New 52 Line was
superstar artist Greg Capullo getting to flex his artistic
muscle on a Batman title. Unfortunately I just couldn't stick
with the original comic book releases. Money, time and a host of
other things got in the way and the book was eventually dropped
after just 2 issues. That brings me to Batman, Vol. 1: The Court
of Owls which collects Issues #1-7 in a nice hardcover edition.
The art delivers. But more than that, the story is very
compelling and fresh with a twist at the end that I didn't see
coming. The one thing that was going through my head while
reading this is "when can they make a movie of this"? I'm pretty
sure that both Snyder and Capullo had a film version of this in
mind when putting it together. This arc is very cinematic and
would make an awesome film. So, with such glowing reviews for
this, why is this only getting 4 Stars then? The ending leaves
you hanging like an executioner's wet dream. It ends on such a
major cliffhanger that anyone that reads this will certainly be
disappointed that a book that "collects" the entire story
doesn't get an immediate resolution. Normally I would snap this
book up as a Buy. But you and I both know that DC will release a
much larger Collection, most likely an Absolute Edition that
will carry the entire arc to its completion, which is a book
that I will definitely pick up for my own personal library
collection. As for Volume #1, this is just a Rent. Save your
money for the book we all know will eventually be released.

The clip dives into the creation of their latest Batman story
and has nothing to do with Court of Owls. Didn't feel like it
warranted a new thread since it's still the two creative minds
behind this.
