Darabont's LA Noir Wins Series Order
       Jon Bernthal fights crime

       > Good news today for Frank Darabont, who has mixed fortunes on
the goggle box recently. While he launched The Walking Dead to
great acclaim, he was forced to step down from that show at the
start of the second season. He moved on to make a pilot for LA
Noir and now US channel TNT has ordered a six-episode season of
the show. The first official picture from the series is above.
       >
       > LA Noir adapts John Buntin’s book and finds a roster of cops
battling mobsters in the same era as Gangster Squad, even to the
point that the primary menace is again Mickey Cohen.
       >
       > The focus here, though, is Joe Teague (Jon Bernthal), a former
Marine now working as part of the LAPD at a time when police
corruption is rampant. Mayor Fletcher Bowron (Ron Rifkin) is
determined to root out the bad element and also take down
Cohen’s mob. So Captain William Parker (Neal McDonough) puts
together a team to make that happen, including Detective Hal
Morrison (Jeffrey DeMunn), who heads the new unit.
       >
       > Also featured is Milo Ventimiglia, an old military buddy of
Teague’s who's now a lawyer connected to the mob, and Alexa
Davalos as Jasmin, a beautiful woman with a dark past who
discovers it has come back to haunt her.
       >
       > Simon Pegg makes an appearance in the pilot, and we’re excited
to see this one on screen. As to when that will happen hasn’t
yet been set, but hopefully we won’t have to wait too long.

Let me clarify, he is being pursued to play the role of Bugsy
Siegel. If they land him, I approve of the casting 100%.

When I first heard of Darabont's new series, I immediately
thought of the game, which I own. I'm not surprised that this
       turned into a legal matter.

Cool looking trailer. I'm not sure this is an actual series. I
think it's just a mini-series. Updated the thread
       title......again.

This "two hour" movie was really two 1 hour episodes back to
back. So, the pacing is naturally going to be a bit more
condensed. But therein lies the problem, it still wasn't fast
enough for my taste. A great opening and a nice twist at the
end. But everything that came in between was just too slow. It
looks great. Beautifully shot. Reminds me a lot of LA
Confidential, just not in the same league as that movie. Mob
City has a lot of potential and given that we only have two more
airings, I will stick it out. I hope they can find their groove
and give me reason to come back for more beyond the initial
       episodes.
FYI, I'm still not a fan of Jon Bernthal and I liked him even
       less in this one.

       Duh!
One of the rare misfires for Frank Darabont and I think it had
to do with the cast. Two episodes was all I needed to watch to
       know this was a goner.
