Unless I'm completely out of it, Stings new single
HTML http://video.today.msnbc.msn.com/today/53092674,
doesn't sound
bad, but it sure isn't something I'm interested in.
The album is inspired by Sting's forthcoming play of the
same name and explores the central themes of homecoming and
self-discovery, drawing upon his memories of growing up in the
shadow of the Swan Hunters Shipyard in Wallsend. His personal
reminiscences illuminate universal truths - the complexity of
relationships, the passage of time and the importance of family
and community - to form an affecting, complex parable for our
modern times.
Guest artists on The Last Ship with roots in the North East of
England include Jimmy Nail, Brian Johnson, The Unthanks, The
Wilson Family and Kathryn Tickell. The album is produced by Rob
Mathes (Sting, Eric Clapton, Elton John, Lou Reed, Carly Simon)
and engineered and mixed by Donal Hodgson.
I use to be a HUGE fan of the Police (the band, not Big
Brother). But somewhere along the way during his solo venture,
his voice just started to annoy and irritate the hell out of me.
Really only a couple of Police songs I can listen to these days
and that still doesn't mask how his voice makes me grind my
teeth. It's just odd how fave songs of theirs that I loved back
in the day can bring out the beast in me these days. Go
figure.....
