I'm a little late getting around to reviewing the Demo. Anyway,
I did manage to get to tryout the Demo at the San Diego Comic
Con and it was strictly by accident. First of all, the booth was
barely noticeable and the only reason why I even noticed it in
the first place was the hot Snowboarder Chick (Hawt!! ;D)
standing in front of the SSX sign. I went up and asked her if
they had any hands-on demo's of the game and she said it was in
back. Huh? She led me back behind the curtains where they had 3
stations set up....all PS3. Huh?
First off, why is EA hiding the game from public view? Isn't the
whole point of the Con to promote the hell out of your product
and drum up potential sales of said product? And second, what
the fuck is up with PS3-only stations? I would expect there not
to be any Wii stations, but to omit XBox seems like a pretty
stupid mistake to make at such a very public event like Comic
Con.
As for the game itself, it looks
siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiick. The graphics are amazing
and the design of the slopes is pretty wild. Even though there
were 3 stations, it wasn't a team race. Each player was racing
against the clock, which meant that it was all about trying to
do as many tricks as possible before reaching the bottom. Since
it was on a Playstation I was horrible. I tried to remember some
of the moves from Tricky. Some worked...most did not. It's a
completely different gameplay, so you will definitely have to
learn the new moves to master this one. One thing of note,
either this was the slickest game ever or the Left Stick
response time was so tuned in, that the slighest move would send
you off course. Whatever the case may be, going down the hill I
was experiencing some serious case of vertigo and I loved it.
Seriously, I was fucking dizzy by the time I got to the bottom.
I was tripping. ;D
I was so bad that the EA personnel let me hang back and play
some more. I still sucked at the game, but got better each time.
So even though you have to relearn the moves, it's easier than I
thought it would be to cut down the learning curve. I am
definitely picking this game up on release day.

Having already played the Demo at the Con, this is definitely a
Must-Buy for me.
