Texting

I think this will just continue to grow not only as part of
cultural phenomenon, but as bad behaviour as well.

The only time I Text is when I'm working in Illustrator and
checking out the latest free font I scored.

I’ll be honest, when I got my phone a few years back and had
texting, I did text while driving a couple of times. Then one
time I almost plowed into the back of a car. Scared the living s
hit outta me. Have never done it since.
I do have Bluetooth and use that when someone calls me. Never
have to take my eyes off the road. And when it’s heavy traffic,
we can talk later.
I kind get why kids do it. Multi-tasking is huge part of it,
which maybe I’ll rant on some time. But really, they don’t know
better. They think it won’t happen to them or they think they
are immortal. Experience and wisdom is a great teacher.

I have neither a phone or a blue tooth. I live off the grid.
It's probably why I respond so well to Enemy Of The State

Iron Maiden calls out fan for texting through three songs at
concert[/glow]
By Gael Fashingbauer Cooper
People text each other from the oddest places these days --
bathrooms, roller coasters, water parks. But one fan was called
out quite publicly when he decided to text rather continuously
from, of all places, an Iron Maiden concert.
Bruce Dickinson, leader of the British heavy metal band, spotted
the texter and screamed out, "Oh, for (expletive) sake, the guy
with the bald head and the white shirt, you've been texting for
the last (expletive) three songs. You're a (British expletive)!"
The scolding was captured on video during Maiden's concert at
Klipsch Music Center in Indianapolis on July 19, and the video's
quickly been passed around. Dickinson didn't spend much time
worrying about the clueless fan. Right after calling him out,
the band ripped into "Wasted Years."
The more I read, the more I'm happy I did not get involved in
cell phones, texting, facebook, etc. There is way to much bad
news. I know in the large context of it all, this is just a
small percentage, but I think this is just the tip of the
iceberg or reported cases and there is more damage than
realized. And 'damage' is nothing to sneeze at. The little
percentage reported are getting hurt in more ways than one.
[glow=red,2,300]Man texts, 'I need to quit texting,' before
driving into ravine[/glow]
A Victoria, Tex. college student believes he is lucky to
be alive after a terrible crash. He was texting and driving the
30-some miles back to his hometown of Ganado when his truck
drove off the road and into a ravine.
One of the last things 21-year-old Chance Bothe texted before
his crash nearly happened to him. He was having an argument with
his friend via text when he typed, "I need to quit texting,
because I could die in a car accident."
