[center][font=georgia]GUIDE ON C A T S .[/font]
[font=georgia]why a guide on cats? because there's some things
we should know about cats before we roleplay them!
{INDOOR [DOMESTIC] CATS}
these cats are the ones that live with us humans as pets, the
kind our warrior cats call "kittypets."
{lifespan}
a domestic cat living in captivity can live up to 12 to 14
years, but there have been reports of indoor cats reaching up to
their 30s, and the oldest known cat lived to be 38.
{weight & height}
the average weight is 8.8 lbs to 11 lbs. thought some breeds
[like the main coon, for example] weigh more than 11 lbs. very
small cats may weigh 4 lbs. the smallest adult cat weighed 3
lbs. the average height for a cat is 9 to 10 inches.
{senses}
cats can see well in the dark--they have very good nightvision.
their hearing is excellent and can detect higher-pitched sounds
than both dogs and humans can. cats have a very good sense of
smell, too. cats do not have many taste buds, compared to
humans. they are unable to taste sweetness. sad, right? x3
cats have dozens of movable whiskers over their body, especially
their face, to aid them with navigation and sensation. these
whiskers provide them with information on . . . the width of
gaps and the location of objects in the dark, both by touching
objects directly and by sensing air currents. whiskers also
trigger protective blink reflexes to protect the eyes from
damage.
catnip EXPLAINED! ;;
they are sensitive to phermones. they respond strongly to plants
that contain nepetalactone [especially catnip!]. they also
respond strongly to silver vine and valerian. there is a theory
that the smell of these plants mimicka pheromone and stimulate
cats' social or sexual behaviors. there, catnip EXPLAINED at
last!
{behavior [for domestic (indoor) cats, & for feral!}
cats tend to be more active at night. thought some cats live in
colonies, they don't have a social survival strategy or a pack
mentality and always hunt alone {with the exception of clans &
tribes on our site! c:}.
nose-to-nose touching is a common sign of cats greeting each
other. the tail and ears are used most of the time for
communication. cats purr, trill, hiss, growl, snarl, grunt, and
more to communicate as well. but we prefer to use "cat english"
during roleplay. c:
{FERAL CATS}
the first thing you should know about a feral cat is that they
are the cats that the majority of us roleplay--the clan cats,
who live in the wilderness! feral cat is another term for a
domestic cat [the cats we keep as pets] that lives in the wild!
they look just like any other cat.

/><<they look just like that picture. these cats are not differe
nt
from "kittypets" except for their lifespan, which is much
shorter, and their weight as well. read "domestic cats", too!
most information is on there!
{lifespan}
two to eight years. {i believe that two isn't very common. x3}
females typically live a year or two longer than males do.
{height & weight}
the average adult male weighs 8.6 lbs, and the average female
adult weights 7.3 lbs. try to keep your [feral] cat's weight
around that area. they are typically 9 to 10 inches tall.
