[font=georgia]The chocolate tortie feline took a deep breath as
she leaped on top of the highrock, back straight, and head held
high. The pale pale moonlight illuminated her dark fur,
silvering the patch-work of chocolate and red as she looked over
her clan. "We have gathered here to choose a new deputy!"
announced Renesmeestar, sweeping her green gaze across the crowd
of cats. [/font]

trotted from the apprentice's den with curious eyes. "is yinyang
being demoted?" the eleven moon old apprentice asked. it would
probably be good for her sister's stress, but not her pride. the
panda-looking apprentice seated herself before the highrock,
trying to sort it out. as the gentle type, pandapaw was very
calm while handling the situation and didn't feel anxious as she
checked to see her sister's standing. yinyang would probably be
a hurt at renesmeestar's choice, but the pressure of being
deputy would at last be lifted and she wouldn't get gray hairs
sooner rather then later. after seeing that yinyang was in favor
of the leader's choice, pandapaw relaxed.[/font][/center]

Renesmeestar nodded, eyes focused on Yinyang's sister. She felt
a twinge of embarrassment as she realized that she still hadn't
decided who should be deputy; she was still between two cats.
Okay ... say the first thing that comes out of your mouth,
thought the tortoiseshell feline, a nervous smile curving her
maw as she shifted her paws and pondered in her thoughts.[/font]

Padding out of her den, young Victoriankit blinked up at
Renesmeestar. A new deputy, why, how interesting! Her verdant
eyes sweeped around the assembling cats. Who would it be?
Smiling, the medicine cat apprentice awaited the promotion.

display of embarrassment by renesmeestar. mentally shaking off
her curiosity, the older apprentice waited to hear what the
leader who had recently returned would say. would would be
deputy?[/font][/center]

changing in Thunderclan. We will have a deputy, only one.
However, there will be the deputy's apprentice - who is chosen
by me. The deputy's apprentice is next in line for deputy,
instead of having to pick a new one each time one dies or slacks
off. Regardless of the apprentice's age, if something happens to
the deputy, the apprentice becomes full deputy. Got it?"
announced Renesmeestar, expression smooth and unreadable as she
spoke. Her eyes betrayed nothing, showing no fear or terror from
being captured by Bloodclan. She had to be strong for her clan.
Show no weakness, thought the tortie confidently.[/font]

Flightlessfeather curled her tail around her paws, looking at
Renesmeestar. She wondered who might be deputy. The deputy's
apprentice sounded like a great idea, too. She sighed and
wondered what it would be like to be deputy.

And drum roll please, thought Renesmeestar, another smile
curving her maw, only this time, it was wider.
She cast her soft, lively hazel gaze across her clan,
scrutinizing each apprentice carefully. "The new deputy
apprentice will be Pandapaw! That is if you accept, my dear,"
the chocolate feline said sweetly in her silken,
velvety voice.[/font][/center]
