why can't they believe?

Im struggling with something from wayyyy way in the past, when i
was little aka this is like 15+ years ago. My parents always
fought and they could barely be in the same room, now like most
kids we all find our own way to handle things, my little sisters
was to read in a corner and ignore it. Mine was to make up a
story and distract them from their fight.
Because i did that until i was at least 12 and my parents
finally thought it would be best if they split up, im struggling
to get out of old habits and now no one in the real
un-interneted world trusts or believes me. Im suffering from
depression and am currently seeing people to help me. But i am
struggling to know and figure out a way to get people to feel
like they can trust and believe in me again.

years old, so i know what you're going through.
they were like that--fighting whenever they're in the same
room--though it was about three or four years before they got
divorced.
so, you made up stories to distract them? did it involve

Mum and dad said i over exaggerated what actually happened there
for the story was messed up, i can't remember everything (loss
of memory due to an accident)
