About the Gallery
By: Red Date: June 20, 2013, 11:36 am
---------------------------------------------------------
So recently, Mistercuttlefish added the gallery feature to the
forum, which means we can post pictures and stuff. I've added
various categories for people to upload photos if they want, but
they're pretty basic at the moment. If anyone has an idea for a
category for images, throw it in a thread in the Suggestions
board and we'll discuss its creation there.
Please be advised that when posting a picture, you must select
the category listing first, because if you change it after
entering in other information, the info will be deleted and
you'll have to start over. Right now, the current highest
resolution is set to 3000x3000 pixels with a max file size of 5
megabytes.
A word on files types, there is no preferred type for the board
at this moment. I don't know if anyone's attempted to upload a
.gif file or not yet, but hopefully they'll be animated, because
in some cases they stop moving (that is, if it's an animated
gif, but then again, if you're going to save a picture in .gif
format, then you have bigger problems.)
Ultimately, .png files normally have the highest quality (and
file size???) from what I gather, with .tif being equal in
quality, usually. The .jpg file type is probably the best for
uploading and general use on the internet. While it is lossy
(some data is lost in compression, meaning it may be a lower
quality image) it has a relatively small file size for quality.
If possible, save .bmp files as .jpg if possible. The .png file
type can replace .gif in most situations, since .gif is outdated
and has bad coloring. Gif files are still fine to use, though,
as they're compatible with most devices (except for iphone,
those bastards).
Honestly, I don't care what file type you prefer, but the more
you know...
Happy posting!

It might be a permissions thing. Lemme take another look at it.

Someone give it a shot, I've updated permissions for the regular
member group.
