       Climate Change
By: Red Date: August 22, 2013, 10:50 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
So apparently climate change and/or global warming (whatever you
want to call it) has been confirmed by numerous organizations
around the world, and just a few days ago, it's been discovered
that we're consuming more than the earth can produce in a year
of certain resources, which isn't a surprise, but it definitely
sparks a dark cloud or two. My family's been cracking down on
our energy use by installing solar panels and buying more
expensive light bulbs that use less energy, not to mention
filling in our pool to make our filter do less work with just a
jacuzzi (it was the most energy consuming appliance in our
household and ran for three hours a day). My biggest concern is
finding a way to inspire more people to crack down. We spend a
lot of time on the internet, and maybe that leads us to grow
further and further away from our environment around us just for
another time-consuming shot of dopamine. A theorized solution
might be to spend less time on the internet and more time
outside, but I don't think that's going to help. Another
hypothetical solution might be to consume less goods and live
simply, but that doesn't mean the production of those good will
stop. I don't think that corporations are going to stop, I don't
think the media's going to stop, and I don't think the people
are going to stop. I don't mean to be doomsaying here, but where
is this going to leave us? What is earth going to look like in
three years? Five years? Ten years?
What do you guys think? Personally, that trip to Mars is looking
       pretty tasty.
