Ok so, my personal beliefs on this topic are mostly the same as
yours pat. I think that the goal of Third-Wave Feminism is
equality, and maybe Feminism is no longer the right label for
this movement, but its what we've got, and like many large
movements, it is often misconstrued. People learn wrong from
faulty sources, and there are some out there who are all "RAH
RAH RAH DOWN WITH MEN AUGGGGG" but, and i may be wrong here, i
don't think thats the norm. (At least from what i have been
exposed to in regards to feminism). So lets go through the
problems you listed that you have with feminism (and these are
       problems, no movement is perfect).
       - Women apparently have to be victimized
I honestly don't know how to respond to this one because i've
never heard this before so i don't know the background and i
don't think i'm qualified to give anymore then a No.
       - Oversexualization of women in media is not okay, but
       oversexualization of men is fine
The Oversexualization of anyone is wrong, but most of what we
see of men in the media is Overmasculineization (i think thats
the word, however misspelled). Much like Oversexualization,
Overmasculineization is what pushes men into their perfect
little gender roles and makes them think that they must be
       manly.
One of the goals of Feminism is to get rid of gender roles so
that these boxes no longer exist. You can wear tights and not
have your masculinity questioned or you can play football and
       not be called a dike.
       - It's also the man's fault that rape happens

you've sort of already covered this, but it is the rapists who
is to blame for the rape no matter where on the gender spectrum
       they fall.
       - The only way to have women be equal is to bring down men
When there is a power imbalance, one of the two weights on the
scale must be changed. Now by this i do not mean that if women
are equal it means that men will no longer enjoy the same
privileges, although some will not be as easy it will be things
like equal opportunity when competing for a job. Currently, if
two people, a man and a woman are competing for the same job the
man is more likely to get the job no matter how qualified the
       woman is.
       - Patriarchy sucks but matriarchy is okay
No, at least in my eyes this is wrong, this is still an
inequality and the goal here is equality.
       - Chivalry is dead, but if you don't hold the door open for
       women you're sexist

If you hold a door open for someone you're polite, if you hold a
door open for someone because they're a woman and you are
expecting something in return you're sexist.
       - Women may punch or otherwise disrespect men when they're
****s, but men can't do the same for women even if they're being
       ****s because that's sexist

No. Abuse is abuse. No matter who is doing the punching or what
       the situation.
Ok thats it, and remember this is just my opinion, there are
people out there who classify themselves as feminists that would
not agree with me but that is because everyone is different and
everyone's experiences are different. I just thought that maybe
this would help explain my point of view a bit.

Notme, that's basically my take on things so I feel confident
enough to back you up. The arguments I listed are obviously
extremely distorted from what I'd imagine people fighting within
the movement try to idealize, and I definitely acknowledge that
a good portion of feminists are definitely more level headed and
less aggressive then what's outlined and implied in these
arguments. I'll also note, that the first one is more an
observation. I hear a lot of a "we're hurt so you owe us money"
kind of attitude in some of the paragraphs. (I should start
citing sources, but in an effort to keep this thread concise,
I'll skimp out on them. Any complaints may be risen and I'll
       comply.)
I should also clarify that I don't want to call myself a
feminist because there's also a tad of bad rep men get for it
because of the existing bias that we're all aware of, where men
seem to be rewarded for being a feminist while women can be
scorned for it. I give up the title to remove myself as part of
this problem. I'd almost rather call myself a women in spirit
than call myself a feminist, but I also feel like this would be
a misrepresentation and would be taken south pretty quickly.
What I'm saying is that the stigmas that come from the term for
those that are cisgendered are ones I aim to put to rest. I'm
just choosing to remove that label from myself altogether; I'm
not abstaining from picking a side, I'm merely exhibiting my own
agenda. If someone asks me if I'm a feminist, i'll probably tell
them that i have similar opinions to one rather than merely
existing as a feminist. That's all I want to clear up, haha.
There was something else I wanted to say but forgot. Anyhow,
Notme has most of my perception in a nutshell, so that's good.

For everyone's emotional well-being. EVERYONES YES I AM GOD I
HAVE DECIDED WE ARE BEING HURT BY THIS IM SORRY NOT SORRY IDK
       ANYMORE
For everyone's emotional well-being, can we... idk what to do, I
want the topic to be kind of pushed aside now that we've all
kind of found a common ground but I don't want it swept under
       the rug. You know?
       Like, here:
-I don't want this to be a common occurrence (bringing up old
wounds for some) but I do want us all to be able to talk about
it if its becoming really bothersome for someone
-I would like, if put into the situation, for us to be able to
back each other up if someone is being suppressed but I don't
want this to cause conflict within our group
-When we're faced with a social problem that does need
addressing, I want us all to be clear and forgiving of mistakes
involving this topic. What I do not want is two sides pit
against each other, a gang-up (note to something recently), or
any kind of fights (physical or verbal) that might find their
way into a conversation made over the internet. (though not much
physical activity happens here you get what i mean)
EN MI OPINION: I don't think this is a topic for the internet or
our forum. This is not because I am a moderator/admin, nor do I
plan on using those powers to influence this forum in the
slightest unless for more freedom for all of you who like it on
here. I believe we should have open conversations about society
and the like topics in person due to the horrible communication
the internet fucking is cause lets face it its actually kind of
really bad haha whoops. If I said, "I like ducks" on here, you
could read it in a variety of ways depending on your mood at the
time, so conversations that could be tough to deal with should
be in a one-on-one conversation just so you know the other
       person isn't threatening or distant.
i totally forgot what else i was gonna write but you probably
       get my point whelp
