inb4 you call me an asshole

Things I don't like about feminist arguments:

[li]Women apparently have to be victimized[/li]
[li]Oversexualization of women in media is not okay, but
oversexualization of men is fine[/li]
[li]It's also the man's fault that rape happens[/li]
[li]The only way to have women be equal is to bring down
men[/li]
[li]Patriarchy sucks but matriarchy is okay[/li]
[li]Chivalry is dead, but if you don't hold the door open for
women you're sexist[/li]
[li]Women may punch or otherwise disrespect men when they're
assholes, but men can't do the same for women even if they're
being assholes because that's sexist[/li]
[/list]
It's because of most of these issues that I'm no longer calling
myself a feminist, but rather removing myself from the equation
altogether and fighting for my own personal beliefs. I tend to
hold myself to the following standards.

[li]Gender is fluid, don't hate on one or the other because it's
a spectrum anyhow[/li]
[li]Be nice to everyone, and if someone's being an asshole,
treat them with kindness or otherwise ignore them and leave[/li]
[li]If you're in physical danger, defend yourself, but in all
cases, you should be attempting to leave the premises or call
for help, not inflict life threatening or maiming wounds (this
is taught in basic self defence classes)[/li]
[li]Always hold others in higher regard than yourself, but know
that no one is truly above or below anyone, we're all human with
stupid human problems[/li]

Just hopping in with a stick to poke the hornet's nest:
I completely agree with your personal belief section, but I
would just like to point out that while I continue to consider
myself a feminist, the actual belief of feminists tends to vary
from movement to movement. I have seen perspectives on opposite
sides of the spectrum both claiming to be feminists and shooting
down the other argument, so I kinda really get your points. :I
although, the whole "It's also the man's fault that rape
happens" I kinda have to agree with... just because it would
also be the woman's fault if a man is raped. But then that's
just my thinking in the fact that no one should be raping
anyone..... :I

tl;dr Everyone rapes, not just men, and their self-justification
stems from other issues, not because somehow they're twisted and
evil.
Well, all I can say is rape happens by men to women AND other
men AND other gendered people, and rape happens by women to men
AND women AND other people, and rape happens by other people to
women AND men AND other people, so saying that men rape women is
a little shallow for me, personally. Rape happens by people to
people, and that's kind of the bottom line. I could care less
about the gender truthfully, the fact that it happens is enough
to make me wish it would never happen at all, but that's kind of
like saying I really wish car crashes would stop happening or
suicides and homicides, so the most I can do is accept it and
move on.
[s]Also, note that I said something along the lines of "rape
happens because men" in my reasons why I disagree with the
arguments. This may be simply absolutely atrocious wording on
the arguer's part, but the point is that it's hard to believe it
when I hear "rape happens because men" from more than 5 sources
on the internet. Rape doesn't happen because men, rape happens
because of mental illness and also becausea good portion of
rapists were actually previously raped either as children or
when growing up, so it's completely backwards for me to hear
people saying that rapists are the cancer when they're only
trying to deal with confusing emotions from when they were
children, it's simply a cycle. But it also should be noted that
not all rapists were raped, and there are those that would
otherwise not show any signs of mental illness. Thus, we come to
the world of fetishes and other things along those lines. I
predict that it's a pull on the strings of taboo and an
inferiority complex that leads people to engage in sexual
activity even when the counterpart is unwilling, and it may also
hold some core drive within the depths of societal pressure in
general including peer pressure or lack of environmental
control, many stemming not from the media, but, personally I
believe, the nature - or lack thereof - of the modern American
dream, where a family settles down with a white picket fence in
the suburbs and they work nine to five yada yada. [/s]

My onion: everyone's an asshole in one way or another
No one is NOT an asshole honestly we have all been an ashole to
someone in a way that's threatened their gender at one point it
doesn't matter if you don't think so it just happens lets just
all take a deep breath
Matriarchy is basically the same thing as patriarchy and they
together make an asshole no one likes an asshole but I guess we
just all have to deal with the shit now don't we
Right now I don't care about the details and I haven't even
bothered to read anyone's post because I really could not give
less of a fuck
My onion of Feminism: most everyone needs it, it isn't strictly
for women its just an idea mate lets not all loose our shit.
There are varriations of feminism and people do stupid things
and other people do not so stupid things and so feminism isnt
strictly a good or a bad thing its just there as a label for one
big floppy generality
Truth is shits gonna happen assholes are gross lets all stfu and
hang out and talk about the cool stuff in life we like to try to
be accepting of like Jesus or black holes
Yeah? Yeah. Go to bed and don't care and love each other
I'm sorry but I hate these threads not gonna lie they just open
up old wounds and throw salt at eyes okay you guys
If you're having an existential crisis then call me we can smoke
some weed okay okay night

It's not something that can be ignored though, there are
injustices happening on both sides of the argument that need to
be tended to. Saying you guys want to ignore it is dumb because
you guys post about it on tumblr all the time.
Also, the point is, people are entitled to their opinions, but
just because they have an opinion doesn't make them an ****,
really. The only reason I named the thread what it is is because
I figured people would jump to conclusions like this and this
would happen:

I hear the arguments I listed in my first post almost every day
on tumblr. The simple thing to do would be to unfollow people,
and I'd do that, but you're my friends and I want to discuss
this with you guys to create a better understanding of where we
are on the issue, because it directly effects us in our day to
day lives. If you asked me, yes, I really couldn't care less
about it, but having it just be an issue some of the time makes
it not worth fighting for in the first place, and becoming
passive when you have the chance to stand up isn't going to help
find a solution. I'd like to do what I can to help reach for
equality and open people's eyes to see that people are people
too using the means I listed near the bottom of my first post,
and the reason I made this thread is to outline the difficulties
that come with the distortions of what is supposedly a "feminist
agenda". I don't think these threads open old wounds or even
make new ones, depending on how they're received, it's just an
analyzation of the matter at hand. It's come to my observance
that what exactly "feminism" is has become redefined by a lot of
people who seem to have lost a sense of humanity and seem to
want to take down another group of people instead of reach a
compromise between them. All in all, it saddens me to see this
happen, and I guess the most I can do is ask anyone involved to
not perpetuate harmful ideals, look for the best, be confident,
and listen.

want you to know that i find no point in this because our entire
group basically believes the same thing you do and when we post
things on tumblr it probably falls into the category of one of

I'm like, hyper-sensitive of the messages some of the stuff on
tumblr promote, and there's definitely a difference between
"Yay, women!" and "Fuck men!". I'm okay with the former, but the
latter seems to be too prevalent as an undertone in a large
number of posts. I actually mostly only see these types of
things come from you guys, which is why I bring it up here. Just
be conscious of the stuff y'all post and what it says about who.
