Not so sound whiny here, but in the quiz at the start one
question asks if you agree with the fact that
RANKS ARE EARNED, NOT BOUGHT OR BEGGED FOR.
And when I log on today, there's a VIP rank awarded to people
who pay $15. I was happy when I joined this server that there
wasn't going to a be "pay for more permissions" (i.e. VIP)
ranks. It seems that you're just going against that statement.
So, that said, if this goes on much longer, I will destroy
everything I have built on this server and quit.

A. I did not create that sign in the spawn. Not the bought part
anyways.
B. Its a VIP rank, you get to do a couple cool things, but its
mostly a form of simply donating.(rather then just flat out
asking for donations without any benefit)
C.The server costs money. The website costs money. If it gets
more populated, I will need to upgrade the performance and
capacity. That costs MORE money.
D.I built this server for YOU GUYS. I am paying all the bills,
and its not cheap. And again, they are called donations for a
reason. You dont have to pay a cent.
E. If you have a problem with any of this, then you are free to
pack up your stuff and leave.
(in the end, realize that you are complaining about not being
able to have 3 letters added to your name..explain the logic.)

You have built some great stuff here Charles, I'd hate to see
you leave. /:
Ranks are not bought.
Think of it like this bud:
You donate to a charity out of the goodness of your heart.
You end up getting recognized one day for that generous
donation.
We don't HAVE to give people anything for their donations, but
we do because it's giving back - The right thing to do.
The only way it's seen as the rank being bought is if the person
donating only does it for the rank.
Alot of other servers sell staff positions and other ranks
blatantly.
-Now that Charlies, ruins servers. I could agree with that.
It'd be hard to respect an Admin if you saw on the site you
could buy the rank for $2 & call it a day.
There's plenty of other promotions to be had, and everyone is
capable of achieving them all. :)

I'm fine with the letters VIP.
I'm not fine when those VIPs get special abilities and can do
things people who can't afford to donate can. I would donate if
I had the money, right now I don't have any to spare.
Take a look at the VoxelBox, the server you guys are trying to,
I guess, mimic.
They accept donations, they do not give special ranks of
abilities to donators. Read their Terms of Service.

Mkei, now I can see your concern there.
However, if we were to remove all extra benefits and only keep
the special VIP rank for donators, then people would complain
the rank itself is unfair because they "can"t donate" or "don't
have the money to spare" then we're back to my first reply here.

As nice as it would be, we can't make everyone happy.
Don't view it from the unfairness perspective.
View it from the perspective we have which is "Oh, awesome! A
donation! Lets thank them!"

The ideas for Paradice aren't trying to "mimic" any other server
either.
We just take the concept of the basic idea and mold it into
something more creative.
There's nothing wrong with that.

Players who partake in the community's development are intended
to be rewarded in one way or another as well.
MineCraft is not a competitive game unless YOU make it, which is
what separates it from many other games.

Exactly I agree with Nick. I am in NO WAY trying to be greedy
or short you for money. I thought having a VIP rank is just a
way of recognizing those who donate. Becasue honestly I am
still surprised people donate real money over a video game. But
the server costs money and I am paying it in full just so you
guys can hang around and have a nice place to play. And a
little help here and there cant hurt. The door swings both
ways. I cant get rid of VIP ranks because people who actually
donate might be a little displeased and feel they are just being
robbed with no return. People that donate actual money deserve
at least something. On the other hand, people who dont/cant
donate get jealous or say its unfair for there to be a VIP rank.
There is no medium between the two conflicts. And besides,
just cuz you dont donate and get VIP doesnt mean that you wont
get promoted in other ways. Stick around and prove yourself and
maybe you will be promoted. I can tell you that mods, and
admins have more abilities than VIPs.....

VoxelBox is probably the most amazing creative server ever, but
that's irrelevant. If nak does it for the same reason that any
other server does, the reason that people gain special abilities
and a title for donating is solely for the incentive for them to
donate. Usually it isn't any kind of game breaking power that
gives them too much power over other players to be a complete
disadvantage over those of us economically incapable of
donating, or just simply not wanting to. My point being that
there is absolutely no reason for there to not be a VIP rank,
and that without such a rank the number of donators would
probably be less than half as much as any they will get now.
That being said, i DO believe that if they somehow manage to
abuse any powers they do get they should have them taken away,
but not the title. Unless they get banned permanently.

What's nice about donators is you can trust them - For the most
part.
Who pays money to grief a server to get banned when you can do
it for free and get banned? xD
