The ship, rocked softly beneath iron shod feet as it passed out
of the port, Chandos watched the great Sea Gate's brick walls
loom above the ship's intricately carved stern, the ship was a
beauty named Storm's Fury and every inch of it was covered in
gilt and all manner of other decoration. Despite its ornamented
beauty the ship was deadly, two trebuchets stood upon the main
deck and a ballista was trained upon pursuers from atop the poop
deck. If this was not enough to scare any aggressor, crossbowmen
made their homes in the rigging and the crow's nests. The ship's
one flaw was it's captain, though eager and charismatic Chandos'
confidence as he new in his heart was born in textbooks and
navigational charts and not the fires of battle. Chandos spat
into the rolling waves as Hugo Bryce appeared at his shoulder.
The man was his bosun, a common born man who wore his lanky grey
hair in a thick salty plait down his beefy, red neck. "It's good
to be out at sea, is it not?" The bosun ask in his harsh voice.
"It was" Chandos replied curtly, he had a disdain for the mans
common birth and a talent for voicing his opinion.
"I meant ye, no harm m'lord captain. I was just inquiring." Hugo
       said apolligetically.
       "Well don't" Chandos snapped.
"Yes m'lord" the man replied in a voice that threatened many
things. Chandos thought about offering and apology but he new
that it was too late, the man had tried to earn his respect and
he had not given it, wearily Chandos rubbed the growing stubble
on his chin as he thought about the enemy that lay far ahead of
him and the enemies closer to hand.
