20 years ago a massive catastrophe occurred unlike any other
those who remember it say spores were released from a research
lab located somewhere in the western United States the cloud of
spores was so thick it blocked out the sun.
Some fell onto the nearby towns and cities the rest were carried
by the wind all around the planet the spores affected 50% of
primates ranging from Monkeys, Gorillas and even Humans. Violent
coughing and lack of breath lead to death in minutes.
However they didn't stay dead within 30 minutes after they died
they slowly got back up much to their loved ones delight but the
songs of praise soon turned to screams of horror as the dead
began biting those not affected by the spores this forced the
'infection' straight into the blood stream and turned them of
the 50% not affected by the spores only 4% of them were immune
to the bites and if they did not run they were eaten alive.
What was left of the US military set up bases outside some of
the major cities Boston, New York, Dakota, Washington, Austin
and San Francisco. Those that managed to get out of the cities
alive went there and slept in tents until more permanent and
sturdy homes could be built.
Farms were expanded and 20 foot (6 meters) walls erected around
them with electric fences on top and armed guards patrolling
inside with snipers in guard towers. Stealing food was not an
offense punishable by death and anyone caught on a farm without
the correct documentation were shot on sight.
Money has been replaced by food stamps if you live in one of the
bases and you didn't join the guards or work the farms you had
to do weekly labor duties of building houses, you refused and
you didn't get paid and were left to starve.
Some lived outside the new 'cities' though many of these were
raiders and in many cases worse than the undead because they
could think and plan some managed to make a living outside,
trading useful things to the cities in exchange for food.
