Duchy of Thera
By: Saur Date: September 26, 2013, 7:25 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Name: Duchy of Thera
Capital City: Talopolis
Name of Race: Tyra
Preferred Map Colour: Green
Nation Background: A traditionally merchant saurian people, the
Tyra had always prospered on trade, making deals with other
nations and races to sell their commodities in return for a
handsome portion of imports which include certain foods, spices,
furs, and slaves. Nevertheless, they have always faced great
strife with their neighbors, the prideful but corrupt human
Kingdom of Tyferra to the east and the aggressive Morlik
Confederation, a nation of iguana-like lizardmen, to the west,
in addition to wild bandits in the lands to the south. Thus, the
Tyra has always maintained a substantial military force to
safeguard their assets consisting of both highly-paid
professional mercenaries and local levies drafted into the army.
Because of their status as a merchant nation, the Tyra also has
a navy consisting of powerful warships propelled both by wind
and by oar, which are operated by slaves and convicts.
The Tyra are reptilians that resemble a hybrid between a large
monitor lizard and Therapod dinosaurs, powerfully-built and
usually standing tall at seven-to-eight feet in height. They
have powerful legs and arms as well as a strong, flexible tail
and brightly-colored spines running down their backs. They are
usually green or brown with their spines usually being yellow,
though there are different color variations as well, and they
have yellowish-greenish eyes with reptilian slit pupils. They
have keen senses of sight and smell, though their hearing is
average at best.
