       History
By: SilverKnight Date: July 4, 2013, 9:33 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
       History
1498 - Tameronian explorers "discover" the easternmost tips of
the country and claim them for the Tameronian King Richard II
1540 - A permanent settlement is established at Grosvenor Point,
on the Winton Peninsula, the southernmost of the two peninsulas.
It is of modest size in the beginning, but is constantly
supplied by ships headed for the Far East
1576 - The capital city of Maidenport is founded near Dawn
Point, as grows quickly, becoming an important trading post and
staging ground for further expeditions into The African
       continent
1655 - Lyonaume is officially created as a crown colony of
Tamerion, by the order of King William I
1720 - Lyonaume is briefly invaded and occupied by Michelonese
and Narravian troops during the Second Michelonese War of
       Succession
1722 - Tameronian troops recapture the colony, and the
government start a massive fortification project to strengthen
       the colony
1740 - The Lyonese Provincial Militia is formed to provide the
colony with its own military to defend against both hostile
local natives and hostile Endryan incursions
1775 - The Lyonese Provincial Army is formed as an extension of
the Militia and soon form its first regiments. At the same time
the colony experiences a large influx of colonists from Endrya,
primarily from Krassia, the Westerlands and Rossovia
1802-1819 - Six regiments from Lyonaume is sent to Tamerion to
participate in the Ten Years War, which saw most of them dead or
wounded before the end. Constant reinforcements to help Tamerion
was a serious strain on the population
1833 - Several expeditions led by Tameronian aristocrats and the
Tameronian Royal African Company expand the colony's territories
over the years. Many native populations willingly submit to
       Tameronian rule
1867-1869 - The First Darami War. Tameronian troops are deployed
in large numbers to fight the Daramian nation, who resisted
Tameronian rule. The war is a crushing victory for the
       Tameronians
1873-1875 - The Second Darami War. Rebellious Daramian warlords
band together and attack the settlements of white colonists.
Many are killed in these attacks before Lyonese and Tameronian
troops crush the rebellion. The leaders and many adult males are
       executed to statute an example
1905 - The end of the large-scale industrialization and
modernization of Lyonaume. This period also marks the high water
mark in the influx of immigrants from Endrya, with tens of
thousands arriving. The colony's total population exceeds five
       million at this point
1914-1918 - The First World War, and Lyonaume rush to join
Tamerion in combating the Eastern Axis. Tens of thousands
volunteer, but extreme casualties force the colonial
administration to introduce a national draft. This proves widely
unpopular and many refuse to serve. The Lyonese troops win many
accolades on the fronts in both Africa and Endrya, gaining a
       well-earned reputation as formidable soldiers
1935 - The formation of the Commonwealth, an organization
including Tamerion and her colonies, which gives the colonies
more say in colonial matters, instead of being completely at the
       Tameronian Colonial Office's control
1939-1944 - The Second World War. Once again Lyonaume joins
Tamerion in fighting the Axis, as eager as in the First World
War. Lyonese troops fight on all the fronts Tamerion have
troops, fighting in Northern Africa, Eastern Africa, the Far
East, Endrya and Mid-Guyana. Tens of thousands die and once
again the population is seriously stressed to find replacements
for the battlefield casualties. Several regiments of black
soldiers are raised to fill the need for manpower, a previously
unthinkable measure. The black soldiers acquit themselves
admirably and following the war are allowed to enlist on the
       same grounds as whites
1950 - Lyonaume joins Tamerion and the Commonwealth in fighting
the Communist uprisings in colonies all across Africa and Asia
1960 - Lyonaume population, riding on a wave of nationalism
washing all over Tamerion's empire, demand independence. The
Lyonese government formally asks the Tameronian Cabinet on 5
March 1960 and is granted its independence as a autonomous
Dominion on 1 June the same year
1965 - The Lyonese Equality Act, giving blacks the same rights
as whites. Around sixty per cent of the population was black at
this point and would later rise
1977-1980 - The Lyonese Crisis. Large portions of the Daramian
population demand independence from Lyonaume and form armed
militias to force the government. The government respond in
mobilizing its military forces and the Daramian leadership stand
down, but acts of violence credited to the Daramian militias
force the military and police to deploy in large numbers to
Daramian-dominated areas to control the violence
1990+ - Modern day Lyonaume is a modern democracy with a very
healthy economy, but with tensions between the Daramian minority
and the majority of the country. Lyonaume remains very active in
foreign affairs and in the Commonwealth, and retains very close
       relations with Tamerion

       Geography & Demographics
By: SilverKnight Date: July 4, 2013, 9:34 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
       Geography & Demographics
The country is made up of almost all jungle and heavily forested
areas, due to the country's proximity to the humid
semi-equatorial region. Large oil wells are located in the north
which in the past and still are a reliable and important source
of income for the country. Along the coast of the north there is
much fertile and arable land. As such it is the primary
agricultural area, providing food stuffs for both domestic
       consumption and export.
The largest population centres are found in the south along with
the majority of the population itself. The major businesses here
are service-based industry and hydrogen fuel production. The
south-eastern province of Syndale is an exception to the general
demographics of the south, being almost totally inhabited by the
Darami minority, a large ethnic group originating from the Ivory
       Coast further south.

       Lyonaume Defence Forces
By: SilverKnight Date: July 4, 2013, 9:34 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
       Lyonaume Defence Forces
       Commander of the Defence Forces
       King Edawrd IV
       Head of the Defence Forces
       Defence Minister Neil Okundu
De Facto Head of Defence Forces
       General Arthur Damin-Akhende
       General Information
The Lyonaume Defence Forces comprise the armed forces of
Lyonaume, notably the armed branches of the Lyonaume Army, Air
Force and Navy. The Head of the Defence Forces are at all times
the Defence Minister of the government currently in place in the
Lyonese Parliament. The current Defence Minister is Neil Okundu,
a former colonel in the Air Force. The Defence Minister appoints
the Military Commander Defence Forces every five years. The
Military Commander Defence Forces are selected from one of the
three branches of the armed forces. The Defence Forces had its
beginnings in the Lyonaume Provincial Militia, which was created
in the 17th century to provide the colony with its own troops to
protect against potential threats from both natives and hostile
Endryan nations. As the colony has expanded, so has the Defence
Forces, and today is one of the finest armed forces on the
       continent, if not the finest.
All national service in Lyonaume is voluntary and only during
the First World War was there a draft in place. However this was
so unpopular that the colonial government lifted it in 1917.
Black members of the population has been able to enlist and
serve in the armed services on the same grounds as whites since
the end of the Second World War, and after the Equality Act of
1960 has been able to attain high command rank as well. Today
there is next to no differentiation between whites and blacks in
       Lyonese society.
The chief arm of the Defence Forces is the Army, and as such
receives the majority of funding and the majority of recruits.
Many historical regiments with strong ties to the Tameronian
colonial rule have been kept intact, and there is a strong sense
of loyalty among the Lyonese population to the mother country
       and to the monarch.
       Army Order Of Battle
The Lyonese Army is organized into four distinct parts, the
Infantry, the Cavalry, the Artillery and the Support Services.
The Infantry is the principal of these branches and form four
brigade-sized units with their own specialized field of
operations, though not designed or intended to operate as these
units, rather as part of combined arms battalion-sized
battlegroups. Lyonese military doctrine, as with Tameronian, is
heavily based on inter-unit operability and cooperation. The
Cavalry form a single brigade-sized unit, designed to break down
to smaller units down to squadron level and provide support to
other elements such as the infantry or engineers. The Cavalry is
also capable of engaging hostile armour on equal footing, and is
equipped with modern armour units, though of a lighter mark than
most Endryan or Western nations. The Artillery is not formed in
any permanent units, but rather spread out to support other
units and battlegroups when required. The Artillery include
specialist formations and units trained in surveillance,
anti-air operations and electronic and cyber warfare.
The formal order of battle is as follows:
       Infantry

       5 (Response) Brigade
1 Bat. King's Own Lyonese Light Infantry (Airmobile Light
       Infantry)
