Officially; The Consolidated States Of Freedonoa (CSF)
       Called: Freedonia
       Government Type: Fascist "Pharmacological" Dictatorship
       (+1R/-1P)
       Economy: Capitalist-Nationalist (Mercantilism) ( +1I/-1P )
Leader: President for Life: Martha Jones
       - trait: Intellectual (+1 Tech)
       - Background: She first came to notice in the town that is now
the capitol city of Liberty on May 19,
1942. Where she is from, none know, but the trusted members of
her inner circle say she claims to owe
her arrival to "a damned Angel." This cryptic remark is
strange, since she is a staunch athiest and
has made efforts in the course of her life to eradicate what she
calls "the blight of blind faith."
She has been a tireless advocate of using technology to
advance the lifestyle of those around her,
and has single-handedly developed technologies that are decades
ahead of their time. Through the
introduction of scientific and social reforms, she gained a
groundswell of popular support from the
poor and middle class, and used her position of trust to take
the high seat in government. She has
little patience for "anti-intellectualists" and seems determined
to the point of constant distraction
to prepare her nation for some future threat that only she seems
to perceive. "They are coming," she
often says in national speeches, "And we will be ready."
National Background: This group of scattered coastal mountain
states have long had warm trade
relations, but because of fiercely independent senses of
       soveregnty, never developed past pre-
industrial rural centers. Despite their lofty ideals, none of
them was able to secure economic
stability or provide for the weakest members of their societies.
They were on the verge of civil
conflict when a charismatic and intelligent woman came along and
showed them how to magnify the
productive capability of their fertile land using scientific
       methods. A peaceful "peasant revolution"
joined these like-minded states into a single cause and a united
nation. Since then, the country of
Freedonia has flourished as a producer and exporter of foods and
       pharmaceutical organics. A retooled
industry has used cutting edge modern machines to become one of
the most industrious nations on the
       planet.

       Geography:
  HTML http://i.imgur.com/Oz5zOft.jpg?1[/img]
The geographical structure of Freedonia is deceptively simple
       for a continent-sized landmass. The
continent's topography is often likened to a huge hat owing to
its flat coastal plains topped by high
mountains. With the exception of narrow coastal plains, there
are three main topographic features: the
Centro Maso, a central lowland, and the extensive Opia and Feram
       Highlands in the south.
The Kamentubo are a Cenozoic mountain range formed (and still
forming) by the continuing convergence of
the Boyuk Mavi and Soyuk tectonic plates. In their northern and
central reaches the Kamentubo are quite
wide and contain extensive plateau such as the Altajstepo and a
number of major valleys such as the
Kanto Rio. These contain one of the world's highest capitals:
       Harvest, Opia. The southern Kamentubo
have been eroded by the Canubian Ice Sheet and are much lower
and narrower. There are a number of small
glaciers in the southern part, but much of the climate is so
arid that no permanent ice can form even
on the highest peaks. Permafrost, however, is widespread in this
       section of the Altajstepo and
continuous above 5,600 metres (18,373 ft).
The climate of the coastal belt west of the Kamentubo shows
violent contrasts, including two of the
world's wettest regions in Kafo Monto and southern Feram, and
one of the world's driest deserts, the
Hassan Senhoma. This dry area is cooled by the Mayva Current and
upwelling, giving rise to the largest
fisheries in the world. There are two small transition zones
between the perhumid and perarid regions:
around Hassan with summer rain, and the coasts of western Feram.
Both these regions have highly erratic
rainfall strongly influenced by Infano Vento events, which bring
major floods. In contrast, the high
plateaux of the Kamentubo are drier than normal during Infano
       Vento episodes.
The very fertile soils from the erosion of the Kamentubo formed
the basis for the continent's only
pre-Canubian state civilizations: those of the Stonnic Empire
and its predecessors (Havín, Al 'Cholek,
Meerica, etc.). The area is still a major agricultural region.
       The Altajstepo contains many rare
minerals such as copper, tin, mercury ore. The Riĉa Tero is
mined for its nitrates. Ganj east of the
Kamentubo is regarded as the most important biodiversity hotspot
in the world with its unique forests
that form the western edge of the world's largest rainforest,
       the Canubian Pluvarbaro.
       People:

The people of Freedonia come from agricultural origins, but have
a diversity in cultures that is hard to match.
From the colorful spectacle of Canubian Harvest Festivals to the
simple Hassanian Founder's Day Parades, it is difficult to
create a singular image which captures what it means to be
       Freedonian.

       Society:
As a pharmacological dictatorship, all citizens are required
to ingest a prescribed dosage of performance and loyalty
enhancing drugs to ensure their resistance to the pollution of
outside influences. Participation is required of all people
aged six and older, before which they are allowed to choose a
role in society, either in technical, agricultural, or
industrial sectors, and are prepared for that inevitability
through training and indoctrination. Programs are underway to
create a substantial military sector for defensive roles, but
       are still months from fruition.
Those in the technical sector are offered drugs which
specifically enhance their intellect and focus. Those who work
in agriculture are offered drugs which elevate mood and allow
them to deal with the repetitive nature of their tasks. Those
of the industrial sector are offered drugs which allow them to
operate machinery for up to sixteen hours a day without sleep.
Each sector has its own perks. Technicians are granted free
education for life, even after retirement. Farmers are allowed
to keep a percentage of their harvest for free, and have access
to own greater parcels of land when they retire. Factory
workers earn higher wages and have access to earlier retirement
       than the others.
The current military programs offer a broad suite of drugs
depending on the soldier's role, and offer perks unique to their
tasks, such as broader retirement entitlements, medical
benefits, and death benefits for surviving family members.

       Week One Story:
It’s harvest time in Freedonia, and as the people celebrate with
the harvest season festivals, the Ministry of Agriculture is
turning out is estimated production figures. It seems Freedonia
has been blessed this year. The estimate has exceeded the
       average yield of wheat!
While this may seem good at first, this increase in the amount
of wheat on the market will lead to a massive drop in the,
already low, price of wheat, making the harvest essentially
       worthless.

Captain Adam Valence looked across the horizon and was gladdened
to see the arrival of the Nyekundu fleet, precisely on time.
Per instructions, radio silence had been maintained for the
entire operation, so it was with great relief that he saw the
familiar flag of his ally billowing high on the ocean breeze.
Semaphore lights confirmed that all sides were ready to initiate
       the first joint maneuver.
Aboard the battle bridge of the Battleship Armageddon,
Flagship of the Freedonian Fleet, the captain signaled the first
       step.
Nyekundu fleets swept the waters of unseen submersible drones
with volley after volley of depth charges, and shredded aerial
targets that approached at mach speed with anti-aircraft
       batteries.
Within minutes, the Nyekundu captain’s vessel signaled the “all
clear” and the next stage began.
The deck of the Freedonian battleship lurched and the air
shook as triple 18” cannons spat hellfire. Wakes of water
sprayed the deck, obscuring the distant shoreline behind a heavy
sea mist. Within seconds, the pneumatic recoil compensation
systems had righted the deck and a different turret fired, again
unleashing a hellish cacophony. By the time the third turret
had fired, huge plumes soared skyward from the mountain targets
over 20 miles distant. The mock concrete bunkers erupted,
spraying dust and debris for miles.
Nearer targets, only a dozen miles away, traced the shorelines
in formation. Mock drone battle tank groups patrolled the
shores, painted with flags of red, or red, white and blue.
Immense shells struck them, propelling metal and debris skyward,
leaving little behind but massive craters and scorch marks.
Captain Valence nodded at his signalman who set the next part of
       the drill into motion.
Nyekundu vessels joined a number of Freedonian escorts and took
flanking positions around the bulk of the navy. Thirty Lerta
class Frigates took defensive positions – flanking a hundred
Havena class LPD’s as they neared the Eastern coast. Within
minutes, the deployment was underway, and each of these vessels
birthed two dozen Lutro “Grey Otter” Landers. In all, twenty
four hundred landing vessels made their way to Freedonia’s
Eastern shore north of Leafton. Within an hour, twenty four
thousand battle-ready marines stormed the shores, erecting
mortars, heavy machine gun placements, and other support
       structures.
The 100th and 101st Marine Landing Divisions made strong head
way leading the invasion on the northern flank of the mock
invasion. The four destroyers acted in unison against subs and
air targets while the AV's launched sea planes to act as
fighters and ground support. General Khaolif was impressed by
his mens speed and tenacity. If only he had another division
like these men he thought. The tanks rumbled ashore after the
beach was secured and the mission was considered a success.
When the captain saw the signal flashes from the shore, he
smiled at how quickly the Frenzy troopers had progressed up the
shore through a maze of barbed wire and concrete as well as
       unforgiving natural obstacles.
Three days later, the assessment of performance was complete.
       General Bree reviewed the evaluation.
The complete operation had taken just over 12 hours, and the
ground troops had taken all targets with only minimal losses.
Three hundred simulated casualties, and thirteen actual injuries
       - twelve moderate lacerations from barbed wire and debris, and
one percussive ear injury onboard a nearby frigate.
As he scanned the notes at the bottom of the page, he noticed an
       anomaly.
One seaman aboard the Konstanta was still MIA, but even the
most battle ready fleet expected such losses as this. He’d
probably wash ashore a few weeks later, or perhaps be found
lying at the bottom of an elevator shaft.
All in all, the test results were beyond expectation. The
       alliance was strong, and ready.
He didn’t relish the idea of war, but, if need be, he could send
his men into the fray with confidence.
