Event: Week one, "Panic in the Capitol"
Today in Volgodovsk, Grenetar during the State of the Nation
adress President Dimitri Putnikov was adressing the nation on
it's goals, and after the first words spoke by President
Putnikov "Today, is a day that will live in the memories of our
people for decades to come." We embark on the greatest endeavor
a nation could..." and an interruption of the sound of loud
crackling noise, it was a recording from the Allied Nations. As
President Putnikov was making "frantic gestures" the music
identified as "Slander Rock" - a distasteful type of music, was
heard throughout the capitol. Panic arose during the recording
many bystanders were trampled over and died attepting to get out
of the square, and uncertain guards shooting civilian by
accident.
Local police forces were called in, along with SWAT teams to
secure the area and gain controll. President Putnikov orderd the
Grenetarian Federal Intelligence Agency, and multiple other
agencies to conduct investigations on the act in the capitol.
The president was evacuated and taken to a nearby military base.
Now the Capitol square where the act has taken place is now
closed off and under investigation. Putnikov also ordered
tighter security in International Airports, Federal buildings
and other areas of importance. No other details availible at
this point in time.
Sincerely Alexandr Sergeyev - Cheif of Staff of the Grenetarian
Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
EDIT: NOTE:I did not make up this story

Short wave radio listeners around the world tuned into the same
band today after reports indicated a change in the famous "High
Tone Low Tone" radio station. At approximately 0459 hours this
morning a young man scanning the waves came across the station
expecting to hear the repeating high tones and low tones.
Instead he what he heard was far more disturbing.
HTML http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0gxerTyYaDs
For two hours today this tune was repeated. It is the tribal war
song of the Nyekundu ethnic people. Many have long suspected
this broadcast to be coming from the savannah country and this
only deepens those suspicions. But the mystery only goes deeper
when at 0700 the broadcast ended and a woman's voice could be
heard over the waves. She said no words, only random groupings
of numbers, pausing occasionally. This is what one listener
recorded:
47693 94573 18483 59384 51839 47263 58347 21634 59347 73633
04732 38483 63933 74342 03843 37549 45839 59843 94784 83744
28483 93843 47539 72384 19383 94833 03484 58393
What do these numbers mean? Is it a code or is it just a prank?
Nothing is certain right now except for one thing, the high tone
low tone repetition has started again. This is Michelle Moore
with World One News, good night.

"Today we announce the start of a new dawn, together our free
nations will move forward to free the oppressed peoples kept
under the boot of communism." Watowzi Abu Malakali sat at the
table with representatives from Freedonia, Que Hong, the Allied
States, Bulawayo, Linkoping, Acadia, and Shiraz. "We are
entering a new day where men and women can move freely without
persecution. In places around the world people do not get to
vote, their voices are not heard, and their needs are left
unfilled by those they have entrusted. It is our duty as we move
into this new dawn to allow all peoples to do as they will and
make a future for themselves without worry of bullet or bayonet.
The enemy we face together is communism!" Roars and applause
filled the room and cameras flashed taking iconic pictures of
the delegation. "
"To defeat this menace I have organized this delegation of free
peoples to battle the threat of communism and contain this
spreading disease. By force of might or force of will, we will
eradicate the godless government of communism that masquerades
as your friend. We must unite to burn out this witch! He hides
in the shadows, he moves behind you into schools, he is
everywhere you look and don't look. Communism is the enemy of
all men everywhere, and together we shall form this Iron
Alliance." The Watowzi begins passing out pens to each of the
delegates and asks them to sign the alliance to defend
themselves and others from the great threat of Communism.

Ambassador Gelena Somez scans the document in detail and asks
for a few moments to contact his nation. After a lengthy call
on a private line, he returns, his face determined and solemn.
He has a note card with hastily written words written upon its
surface.
"The President of Freedonia, Ms. Jones, has informed us of
troubling details regarding recent events in Greton... Grenatar.
She asked me to quote her for posterity's sake before I act."
He drinks from a glass of water and clears his throat, scanning
the paper.
"While we openly support the sovereign right of any nation to
police its own affairs, Freedonia cannot sit idly by while
supposedly peaceful nations quell peaceful protests with acts of
violence. Until we are assured that horrific events like those
of last week are not business as usual, we cannot support an
ideology that suppresses free speech with such heavy handed
means."
He clears his throat again and continues once more, "She has
asked me to sign this accord and issue a challenge for all
others gathered here to join us in the name of justice - and to
give a voice to those who cannot speak because they now lay dead
in the ground. This Iron Alliance is a message to those who
abuse power - you cannot quell freedom. To be free is the
highest gift a nation can bestow upon its people - and we in
Freedonia value it so much, we utter the word every time we
speak of our nation and our ideals. If these Communist nations
have so little value for their own, what hope do we have that
they would value ours? We implore those who value freedom to
join this noble alliance.
Thank you."
With that, he takes out his pen and signs the accord.

Freedonia announces the introduction of antifungal and pest
control products (which have been in trials for the last three
years) onto the global market.
Because the technological process to produce these chemicals is
expensive, Freedonia is looking for a nation with the raw
materials (petroleum/crude oil) to produce them that they would
be willing to offer in trade.
Bianosildo
(3-(3,5-dichlorophenyl)-5-methyl- 5-vinyloxazolidine-2,4-dione)
has proven highly effective against numerous fungal, protist,
and small organism infestations.

Freedonia has been blessed with a bounty of abundant crops this
season, meaning that our grain silos are overstocked and huge
quantities of grain will go to waste if they are not immediately
shipped out.
Rather than sell the excess on the open market, Freedonia has
elected to assist the war-torn nation of Káhziča in their
time of need.
In accordance with its membership in the HELP accord, Freedonia
offers to ship the entirety of the bumper harvest to feed the
refugees and displaced citizenry at no cost.
Additionally, to help recover the country's infrastructure,
Freedonia offers 100 road construction vehicles, 50 power
infrastructure support vehicles, 25 forestry vehicles, 50 heavy
construction vehicles, 100 farming vehicles, and 20
communications arrays (as well as civilian technicians to assist
in the support and operations of the same).
Ambassador Umbele Mkulima has sent message of the offer to the
ambassador of Káhziča, and awaits a reply.

"First things first," said Captain Musharf, "Expand the
evacuation area another twenty kilometres. Use the local police
to move them to an aid station we will set up here." Musharf
pointed to a large flat area next to the river. "The aid station
should be ready in two hours, that gives us enough time to get
the people moving. We will move the provinces fire fighters in
to contain the blaze. The army is mobilizing water bombing
helicopters and planes to douse the fire. We can feed directly
from the river to for water. Do we understand?" The other Civil
Aid Officers snapped to attention, saluted, and said yes sir.
"Get to work." The tent emptied.
At the inferno fire trucks sprayed water in hopes to guide the
fire to the river where it would die out. The heat was intense
and the fire fighters were beginning to lose faith when the
first helicopters roared in dumping huge loads of water along
the western edge of the blaze. From across the Savannah cheers
were heard from workers and civilians. Trucks manned by the army
ferried large numbers of people to the aid station where food,
water, and medicine was on stand by. Thanks to the high state of
readiness the Civil Aid Corps was able establish a large base
camp and then two smaller ones to assist in no time. Several
hours later progress was seen when the large C200 cargo planes
began releasing their loads. Water feel across the Savannah with
great effect pushing the fire back farther and farther. The Army
had also brought in trucks filled with fire repellent foam and
sprayed a three metre thick ring around the now dwindling fire.
By 0400 hours the next day the fire was dying at the banks of
the river and the firemen took great care not to be lax in their
work, as even the slightest ember could start another blaze.
Over the next week people were relocated to trailer parks, which
can actually be seen as an improvement from the straw and mud
huts. Thanks to Fabri Corps, an industry specializing in
prebuilt homes, the government was able to purchase numerous
homes. Merely 36 hours later it was determined that the blaze
was started when a tourist from the United Socialist States of
Grenetar improperly disposed of the his cigarette. With the
travel agencies help and the help of the locals the man was
tracked down at a local hotel before he left the country. He has
been detained and is being held at Simbundu Prison for
questioning. It is expected that charges will be filed against
him including Criminal Negligence and the unlawful smuggling of
Communist propaganda. There has not been word from the United
Socialist States of Grenetar yet but the Watowzi expects to hear
from them soon. Punishment for these types of crimes include,
but are not limited to, being interned in a work prison or even
death by fire, the same punishment handed out to the communist
Gieusseppe Portabellio who purposely set fire to three
government buildings killing 6.
