(Nation) Loch'Nomere

After exiting a thirty year civil war against the oppressors who
ruled the island the people of Loch'Nomere have formalized a new
government. No longer under the strict law of the Martial
Governing Board, the people now walk free in the country and
work the land, only as free citizens. The people, called
Loch'Noans, currently are rebuilding and restoring the numerous
mineral mines to enter the global market place. The years of war
have also damaged the nations forests which were beginning to be
stripped by the last regimes timber practices. The current
government, the Loch'Noan Peoples Senate, is made of twenty
Parliamentarians from each district, excluding the military
districts, and rule on new laws and create a national budget
that is not to exceed the nations income. The Senate is watched
over by the Constitutional Court, made of two Judges from each
district and are re-elected every eight years for a maximum of 4
consecutive terms. The Senate is elected every 6 years with no
member serving more than 4 consecutive terms.
The main current issues that Loch'Nomere deals with are
guerillas still loyal to the former regime, as well as
separatists from the southern island of Earlnoth. Mines are also
being rebuilt and put into operation while the foundries and
factories are being rebuilt. Foresting is almost non-existent
thanks to the last regime and mass reforestation efforts are
under way. New jobs and training is also being established to
reduce the military numbers that are largely inflated due to the
recent conflict.

Interesting Facts:
Alcohol is commonly used as currency in private affairs. An
attempt was made to tax and regulate the distillation of it but
was met with force when the people only heard rumors of it.
Since then no attempt was made to do anything of the sort.
Firearms are regulated typically and many citizens hold them
near and dear. The only weapons banned from private possession
are tanks, artillery, mortars, land mines, and aerial weapons or
any weapon capable of fire and forget or electronic targeting
weapon. Explosives, while not banned, are typically regulated
and kept to mining. All private firearms are illegal on Earlnoth
due to the ongoing conflict.
The Holy Catholic City is located in Dunballow and is the seat
of the Pope. During the fighting the HCC was deliberately
avoided by both sides and the Catholic City Defence League, or
CCDL, rose up to ensure no damage was done and refugees were
taken in. After the fighting ended the Pope and Cardinals
decided to form an official CCDL and they now act as Holy City
guards. The HCC is in fact only a small village of elaborate and
old buildings in the north of the city but draws heavy tourism
and is a major boost to this regions economy.
It is illegal for any person fly without some sort of mechanical
assistance. It is also illegal for a person to dig their own
grave.

Army
The Loch'Nomere Army is armed with ageing weapons from the
1980's and even earlier. The 7.62mm rifles suit the needs of the
military though so little has been done in the way of small arms
development. The veteran force has seen many years of guerilla
warfare, both being the hunter and the hunted. When not
conducting counter-guerilla operations the army trains or
provides active security to discourage any Loyalist operations.
The Army also has under its command the Border Guards who act as
a reserve force during war times or security forces at ports and
mines during the relative peace times.
Loch'Nomere armour is generally older than most other Western
nations but this is because of the Civil War which stunted
growth in all areas of Loch'Nomere. With help from the Republic
of Patagonia, Loch'Nomere has upgraded many of their systems and
even have developed their own new models.

Marines
The Marines of Loch'Nomere are specially trained to take and
hold strategic points the Army declares priority to its mission.
These include capturing and securing landing zones both by sea
and air, bridges, cross roads, and chokepoints. The Marines
spearhead any landings and are used extensively in holding
actions. It's no surprise that there constant deployment has led
to high casualty rates over the years despite stunning training
and experience. Currently there are two Marine divisions, one
based at the Aquella Naval Station and the other currently
deployed on Earlnoth.

Navy
Loch'Nomere possesses a rather small fleet of ships specifically
to secure nation waters which they claim up to 15 miles out from
the coasts. The ships are fast and built to avoid radar until
the last minute. More ships are being built with the latest
naval weapons technology from Patagonia. Loch'Nomere ship
designers are currently working on plans to design modern ships
for increased protection and firepower. At present no submarines
are thought to survive the Civil War, which in turn means that
Loch'Nomere has no submarines.

Loch'Nomere Border Guards
The Loch'Nomere Border Guards operate under the army working
with funds and material from the army, but operates under a
separate command structure. Their duties are patrolling the
country, operating check points, providing security at port and
airbases, and acting as light infantry in case of an invasion.
The Border Guard has three divisions at their disposal that
include armour and artillery.

Air Corps
Loch'Nomere's Air Corps consists of experienced Air to Ground
fighter pilots with a mildly less experienced Fighter group.
During the Civil War many of the pilots lived fast and died
faster against the regimes veteran fighter pilots. After the war
those who survived went on to train the next group of pilots.
Air to Ground fighters have had much more experience in the last
decade as they routinely fly close support missions for the
grounds forces on Earlnoth. Air to Sea fighters make up a fairly
small but strong Squadron as they have already stood the test of
fire against the Regime. Having sunk numerous escaping Regime
ships the only draw back is the lack of technology other nations
hold near and dear. It is hoped that Loch'Nomere designed
aircraft will reach a technological level equal to that of other
nations.

ICA Support Brigade
In order to enter the global community, Loch'Nomere created a
brigade for the ICA specifically designed as a support force.
The Loch'Nomere Support Brigade is capable of executing
security, construction, and rescue operations. A large number of
trucks are also assigned to the brigade for bringing aid and
relief when needed. Currently the Support Brigade is on Yellow
Alert after recent discussion in the ICA of what to do with the
crumbling nation of Faharastan.

Loch'Nomere Nationalized Mining Corps (MinnaCorps)
Shortly after the civil war private companies began to buy the
mines and rebuild them. When the nations Economic Board realized
that the majority of the production was going to foreign
countries they offered free money in the form of subsidized
loans. Foolish board members of Minnacorps took all the
subsidies they could get and were soon rolling in money. A year
later Loch'Nomere's Economic Board came knocking and began
calling in the loans all at once. MinnaCorps was bankrupt and
easily bought out and became a nationalized industry with the EB
controlling production and export. Reaching out to foreign
nations Loch'Nomere offered low tariffs and non-taxed port use.
To date the only nation to accept this offer has been Patagonia
in the so called Quartz agreement. In this agreement Patagonia
offered mining equipment and military equipment in exchange for
free trade between the ports and low cost metals and minerals.
With this exchange the two nations have grown quite powerful in
resources and equipment with state of the art military
technology being rapidly integrated into Loch'Nomere equipment.
