The People’s Army of Amanji
By: Dragovich Date: January 23, 2013, 10:07 am
---------------------------------------------------------
The People’s Army of Amanji consists of six regional operational
commands. The Ground Forces Command
and Army Aviation Command fall under the command of the National
Operations Center.
As of July 2007, The People’s Army of Amanji had 16 divisions
and three independent brigades.
Each division contain a HQ, three line brigades, a field
artillery regiment, an engineer regiment and a support
regiment, totalling some 220,000 soldiers.
The three independent brigades are commando brigades, trained in
advanced urban combat,
helicopter insertion, counter terrorist operations and more,
these soldiers, together with the 17th
and 8th commando divisions, make up the elite of the army.
The commandos are easily recognized by their maroon beret and
better gear.

The regular army of Amanji is considered by many old fashioned
though modern equipment such as body armor,
radar communication and other modern equipment are being
constantly introduced. The regular army's
14 divisions counts mostly infantry divisions, loaded on
whatever vehicle one have found and without the
heavy support of tanks or APC's though the SAHARA 2000 is
beginning to appear in the divisions.
Experts say the biggest issue of the military is the use of
communication between units, as seen during some
of their internal operations where whole companies where
forgotten about on the front line, but ever since
the military reforms of 2004 the army has been largly improved.
Since 1997, when the total army only counted some 90,000
soldiers, the regular army has been replaced by
fully volunteers insted of the conscript it used to consist of.
Since the Amanjin civil war broke out in the fall of 1997, the
regular army has seen action primarily as a
counter-insurgent force and manning checkpoints. According to
the lastest info on Amanjin military stragegy
it still follows the old doctrine of large scale assault, a
tactic that has proven bad during the civil war where
the insurgents were using guerilla warfare.

The commandos are considered as the best soldiers Amanji can
offer. They are highly trained, they recive better
equipment and their paycheck is bigger. But there is a price
being the best of Amanji. Since the civil war broke
out the commandos counts for 1/3 of the government military's
losses. Still the commandos are considered by
all international standard a good fighting force that has seen
action in every battle the military has fought during
the civil war.

Technicals are in use by every unit there is in the army.
Supporting troops with AT and AA fire, bringing in extra
reinforcements, scouting for enemy forces you name it. The fast
4x4 makes the technicals the fastest vehicle in
the Amanjin army but also the least protected. All Amanjin
soldiers have gone trough a one week vehicle course
to better operate these vehicels in the desert fields.

The TANAM SAHARA 2000 AATV was first seen in March 2001, when it
entered the outskirts of Newtown in front
of the 11th Mechanized Division and overran the insurgents
positions. Since then it has been highly succesfull
both nationally but also on the international market where TANAM
resently opened its market.
Armed with a 105 mm gun and a combination of good range and
speed makes this vehicles one of the spearheads
of the People's Army of Amanji.

The TANAM KJILLER APC was meant as a replacement for the TANAM
SAVANNA APC developed in the 1950's but the
cost of these modern APC's were to great to field all the army
divisions. Still it was present in more than half the
army divisions when the civil war broke out but now only counts
for four division and a few brigades.
During the civil war it was deployed in the spearheads of the
Amanjin People's Army's counterattacks which started
in mid to late 2001.

When the SAVANNA APC appered during the 1950's it was descriped
as a piece of metal bolted together and added
wheels and engine. It broke down often, had a lousy top speed
and offered bad protection. It has since been modified
more than 15 times since its first production model and its
reputation is now far succeding what it started with.
Among the chances are improved engine, armor, wheels and
supension which almost makes the SAVANNA APC a
completely new vehicle.

The DESAR 85 self propelled artillery was developed in the early
80's and entered service in 86. It is the Amanjin army's
only form for self propelled artillery equipping the armored,
mechanized, motorized and commando units. Armed with a
155 mm howitzer with a claimed range of 40 km, has the ability
to fire its shells in MRSI mode and can ready to fire in
less than a 30 seconds. It was used during the civil war with
devastating affect on Amanji cities.
