growing pains

MIDTOWN HIGH
"In 1930 the Republicans control the House of Representatives in
an effort to elevate the effects of the anyone? Anyone? The
Great Depression. Pass the dot dot dot anyone? Anyone? The
tariff bill anyone? Raised or lowered? Raised tariffs in order
to collect more revenue for the federal government today we have
a similar debate over this any one know what that issssss?"
The teacher stops moving so does everybody around me so I could
turn into statues what in the hell is going on? I've had these
powers for almost a year now and I spent that year being what
you would call a criminal I considered myself more like Robin
Hood but I digress. The point is I can't do that anymore it's
not right... And there's like a lot more superheroes that try to
stop me its not worth it.
But I think randomly it seems like time will just slow down for
days sometimes it annoys me I wonder how long this is going to-
time speeds up as the kid across the room for me spazzes out and
rips his desk and an half.
"Parker?"
"Oh my god what a freak!"
And for my next trick I shall actually trip while sitting down.
The kid runs out of class and time slows down again only 50 more
minutes of this.
Hunter taps me on the shoulder.
"Hey man we got personally invited back to Roxxon industries by
savage himslef after school!"
"Thats.....pretty boring think we'll get free stuff?"
"Only one way to find out."
ROXXON INDUSTRIES
We make our way to a room where I guess most of the experiments
take place test rubes and animals in cages are everywhere when
we get stopped by a doctor.
"Hello mr. Craig I heard about your little accident are you
experiencing any side effects?" "Nope not really what are the
animals for?"
"We check the blood work for reactions."
"Reactions?"
"Yes why don't we take some of yours and we'll show you?"
"No thanks I like to keep my in the original packaging."
Time slows down again as a needle pierces my skin maybe I have
that for a reason?
"What the hell is wrong with you?!"
"Just taking a sample."
I run out through the exit and don't look back.
" what I am saying is that the deterioration effects we witness
in the first experiment reversed themesleves."
"Meaning?"
" meaning the boys healthy healthier in fact. His metabolism is
a long distance runner and Olympic level athlete in a day!"
"What happens if his condition keeps this pace?"
"Allen. Thank you Dr have a good night."

"So I was thinking for the geometry stuff that's gonna be take
home do you want to do it together or... hellooo? Donovin?"
The world in slow motion is so weird. The words coming out of
alexises mouth take full minutes to come out. Oh crap I should
probably be paying attention.
"So you want to do this geometry Monday night or?"
"You want to do it with me?"
"I've been asking you all day."
"Oooh ya I got a thing."
"A thing?"
"Real important one I-"
Time comes to a screeching hault as I see the start of an
explosion I run and get everyone I can out of the building and
put on my costume.
Fire erupts everywhere and people are screaming as a blur runs
past everyone outside
"Out of the way people big time superhero coming through!"
"The streak? He's back?"
"Man if he blew up the school he's my hero."
The streak breaks through the top window
Who would do this to a school?"
Through the smoke I see a man walk through
"Hey! I need to see a hall pass!"
The hooded man walks through and stares at me
"You wouldint happen to be the new home ec teacher would you?"
He runs at me but I move to the side and hit him through a wall
"I hope you don't expect me to help you clean up because you are
--on--your--own!"
He grabs me and throws me into the lockers and I kick him as I'm
thrown
"Look I hate the food here too but you have to work within the
system!"
I kick him and dodge it when he smashes the ground I get on his
back and hit him against his head. He turns and smacks me
"I feel like we're close enough so I can say that you do not
smell as fresh as a daisy!"
I run towards the window and he grabs me as we both fall I take
the hit and he runs holding me by the neck.
"Hello mr craig."
"Who are you?"
He throws me high into the air as I fall towards my apparent
death
I hit the ground feet first and I run to a stop
I look down at myslef
"Im...alive? I'm alive!!"
The man runs toward me again
"Nooot for long though."
I run around the block and when he lands where I was I kick him
in the back of the head.
Suddenly black helicopters come from out of nowhere and start
firing at both of us
The man runs and I run after him
"Oh no you dont!"
He lands on top of a bridge as I grab him by the arms
"I'm not letting you hurt those people."
Through the hood I see him grin
Time slows down and I look behind and I see bullets I jump and
he gets shot knocking him back and he falls into the water
below.
"Thanks for the help guys really ppricate it."
"Don't move or I swear I will blow your head off!" The
helicopters open fire as I dodge rhe bullets and escape back to
the school.
The fires are done raging and news vans are on scene lovely. I
get walked back to my group of friends as hunter and everyone
hug me
"Found him underneath a chalkboard."

"Ha! You rent a cops think you make enough an hour to take
another hit of that? Hand over the bags I have a full plate
today! Or I'll spin your top!"
The man stops spinning and his orange and black costume is
revealed.
"I want you to crawl over here and band it to me!"
"Oh, if you say so."
A fist hits the top and sends him flying
"But just remember you walked into that one."
"Who even are you man?"
"Myb nobe you puffer!"
Another blur comes and kicks him in the face.
"Language."
The two look at the cops and they pick up the bags of money
"Take them just...take em."
"Hell ya!"
"No it dosent match out wardrobe sorry let's go. And call the
cops will ya?!"
MIDTOWN HIGH
"Dude I coulda made a fortune yesterday."
"Why diddint you?"
"Cause I wasint in Brooklyn when the streak and his friend
showed up."
"Showed up? Speak English much?"
"The streak was in Brooklyn?"
"Ya!"
"Dude people are offering a shit ton of money for a picture of
either one of em!"
"Ya and that spider man"
"Dude the streak is so much better."
"No way in-"
The two teens look at each other in the library and laugh as
they hear the conversation continue."
The two run down the street and talk as they dodge cars
"You even have a name yet?"
"I'm thinking binshou"
"Like that Anime guy you watch?"
"Hell ya!"
"How'd you even get the powers?"
"Dunno got shot then I was fine."
Before anything else can happen two cars stop and thugs get out
half dressed in blue half in red and they draw guns with the
streak and Binshou caught in the middle.

I run to one side but before I can reunite with my bloods
suddenly the cars flip and a nigga with a yellow shirt and a
belt buckle starts to hit everyone.
I take out the crips while the other two take out the bloods and
I almost slap them for that
"Who the hell are you my nigga? Where ya grandma stay my nigga?"
"My name is power man. I've been patrolling Harlem for a while
and keeping my eyes on the gangs here. In less than a week all
of my peace talks go flying out the window because each of the
gangs leaders had a family member get killed and of course they
blamed it on each other."
"You don't think that's way happend?"
"Can't prove it but I got a gut feeling."
"We can help."
"Nigga fuck you say?"
"Ya me and Binshou here can help with the peace talks."
"Sheeet! I'm a go talk to the bloods homie yo ass can handle the
crips!"
Binshou runs off

Power man looks at me "hes......ya."
I run off to the place power man marked for me I have no idea
how binshou just knew but when I get there I see that the bloods
beat me to it and their out for blood. The entire street is a
gang war with both sides not caring who gets hurt I run in and
take out the whole lot of em easily. I get on the rooftop and
the crip leader is there
"Woulda thought the nigga wearing red was a crip?"
"I'm not park tonight by the castle power man wants to have a
meeting."
"Well it's the least I can do I guess."
"Good see ya there."

By the time I reached the bloods hideout thr crips were moving
in in there cars and none of them were even gtrs. I was
disgusted.
I ran down and easily dispatched them then went and talked to
the bloods leader niggerishly
"Aight that's cool see ya there fam oh and by the way I was shot
in my spine earlier but I'm walking wanna know why?"
"Why homie?"
"Cause I ain't no crip."
"Damn right my nigga."

Night comes and the leaders cage and Binshou go inside the
castle and I wait on a rooftop bored.
I think an hour passes before I see snipers set up around the
perimeter all wearing high tech armor and using advanced
ballistics.
I run and knock the first one out and It has a picture of the
two gang leaders with circles around them.
"Fuck" I look and another sniper is there as the guys come out I
run down and catch the bullets in my hand as binshou hits the
two other snipers
"Ha I fucking caught bullets that was amazing! Faster than a
speeding bullet!"
"Uh fam look at your hand."
"Huh?"
In one hand a bullet casing falls and in the other is a clear
whole through it
"Oh...that's no good."
"Nigga you got shot who cares my dad got shot all the time."
"Really?"
"I don't know as far as I know this niggas my dad ain't that
right pops?"
"No I ain't your dad!"
I hold up the pictures to them
"You were played hook line and sinker."
"Kingpin wanted you guys to fight as a distraction."
"For what?"
"I have no idea."
"Guess it's time I payed a visit to this king pin."
"You wanna die nigga? Cause that's how you die. I ain't helping
you with that."
"I cant get involved either but you always welcomed in Harlem
both of you."
"Nigga where you think I live?"
"The streets?"
"Damn right."
I leave the guy and make my way to Manhatten time to see who
this kingpin guy is.

MIDTOWN HIGH
Lunch time in this school is hectic especially with drama queens
"So like,spider-man busted on the mafia last night it was so
cool! Saw it on the news spider-man pulled one out like that one
dude from hells kitchen what's that dudes name?"
"Enough with spider-man already!"
The girl slams her head down and starts crying.
"Ooookay that wasint weird or anything."
"Speaking of dumb as fuck are you really going to try to sneak
into kingpins building tonight?"
"Yes tyler I am because you don't want to help me I'm going by
myslef."
"So would you like to be buried or cremated?"
"I'll run circles around this guy."
" people people if you please people. If I could just have your
attention for one moment I would be remiss if I didn't take this
opportunity to thank our host for this evening for it is his
fundraising efforts alone I will keep the Midtown hospice open
after the horrible attacking our city I just want to say that it
is in times of need that you find out who the Friends of the
city really are. And now we know Wilson Fisk is a friend to new
york."
Wow that guy is fat. Like wow holy shit is his suit made out of
donuts? Give me a break. After all that tub of goo has taken
from the city. The drugs Thievery, the murder you take a piece
of everything the side of Midtown Tunnel all the people around
him with disappeared do you write a check and he's one of the
good guys. He's a good guy and somehow I'm a bad guy fantastic!
Ok. I read every fluff piece yellow journalism the bugle ever
wrote on this Fisk guy. Every op-ed piece every cartoon. Every
letter to the editor is office, his palatial office is on the
34th floor I run through the party and into the elevator. But
what am I looking for? I look up and I see the tiny glimmering
light but camera staring directly at me. You know what I'm
getting that funny feeling again. Like this too might have nor
been the best idea.
Time slows
Okay so it took me like forever but I finally figured out that
when things slow down bad stuff follows and it's happening right
now.
"Can I help you?"
I turn around and sock him in the face it's the kingpin and my
punch just bounces off of his chin. He grabs my arm and twists
"Who sent you?"
"In what sense?"
"What?" He twists harder
" do you mean who sent me in the larger cosmic sense of the word
or agggh!"
I'm pretty sure that was a bone
"Who sent you?"
"Carson daily."
"I don't know who that is."
" sure you don't. Want to know why? Because he didn't invent a
line of prepackaged pastries if he did I bet you know everything
about him you big fat fatty you fat of a fatman."
"Electro power up and take care of him."
"Electro...power up?"
Suddenly the man besides him glows and shoots a lightning bolt
from his hand and I dodge it and jump to the wall he fires
another one and I run around the room to destroy as much of his
office as I can.
I appear behind electro and hit him and an electric surge sends
me flying back.
"Dumbass"
"Pull off the helmet."
"It's a freaken kid?"
"Do you recognize him?"
"Nope."
"Whaddya want us to do?"
"Find this Carson daily and bring him to me. And toss him out
the window."
My eyes slowly open as I see the ground coming up fast I twist
my body and land feet first on the pavement and break my fall.
Let's recap shall we? Be spanked you, electrocuted you, broke
your costume yanked off your helmet and tossed your ass out of
the window of a skyscraper. & I was in there for a good 30
seconds I was electrocuted and thrown off a skyscraper! I'm such
an idiot. I had no business going in there. I had no idea what I
was up against man took my helmet that's got to be the worst
thing that can happen with superhero my whole body is sore knees
there's no school tomorrow both freak hit me with? This day
couldint get any freaken worse!
I see cop cars outside of my house.
I run twords the door and I see my dad yelling about how he
diddint do it how it wasint him.
Time stops as I walk in the house and on the floor is my mother
with a pair of scissors in her chest.

FISK PENTHOUSE
THE kingpin holds up the red helmet
"What do you have there bug guy?"
"A souvenir This gentleman came to see me last night."
"How bout that so what do you think is up with all these
costumed guys running around all over the place?"
"I have no clue but this one broke into my penthouse and picked
a fight with me almost ruined my dinner party."
" almost ruined your dinner party? Do you hear yourself you
sound like Martha Stewart seems to me that maybe you elevated
yourself above all lost common dogs it's a wonder you ever even
bother with us anymore where it is you can't bother to get your
hands dirty no more"
" he takes a stand. I was wondering when and if you'd ever must
have the guts to do it Montana, ox, if you'd be so kind to hold
you under my study for me please."
The two look confused
"Time to pick a side boys."
They hold the man down
"Oh come on it was a joke!"
" no you're right I do have a rather strict policy about getting
my hands dirty with these sort of nastiness of the day today
it's true."
He places the helmet onto the man's head and looks at his
reflection he places his hands around his head and begins to
squeeze
" I only get my hands dirty when I really really want to do it
myself."
2 MONTHS LATER

questions plaguing law enforcement this early morning with the

Wednesday one has to wonder what this bizarre turn of events
mean."
I turn the tv off.
"I'm so glad you gloat it's gonna make it all the better when I
kick your fat ass."

Everyone looks at donovin who hasint said a word for two whole
months alexis taps him and holds up her book with the words "you
okay" written on it he ignores them.
" okay so let's talk about the Nixon tapes. Did anybody read the
chapters? Anyone? Good. You kids are lucky because most of the
tapes were just released the public over the past few years
before that mostly information was only heard by a handful of
people. Initially Nixon had decided to destroy the tapes for any
outsiders ever learned of them that's a decision that might have
saved his presidency. But he didn't. So what did we get from the
tapes can you describe what feelings you got from the part of
the tapes we listen to anyone? Nixon was a paranoid map of
course the man certainly had his enemies in this world but
they're not the question doesn't it? Why would a man so paranoid
about his enemies who is so involved with crystal dialogue in
activity record his every move anyone?"
Donovin raises his hand
"Because he thinks he's untouchable."

2 months I have been studying every movement of humpty dumpty
only thing I need is to find out where and how to access his
cameras memory banks.
The company that makes the cameras are a huge one and I find the
camera online just like that God bless search engines. And by
setting up a fake email and asking for information.....alright
cross your fingers.
MIDTOWN HIGH
"Hello Donovin my name is doctor Bradley. Please sit down."
I have never seen this woman before in my life does she even
work here?
"I don't know what this is about they told me to skip class
and-"
"Well I have been asked by the school board to come down and
speak to some of the students about what has been happening
recently."
"What?"
"The school set up these sessions to help you get a grip with
the tragedy that we were all victim to when that streak
character and that aberration took hold of the school."
"Uh huh."
"Says here that you were under a chalkboard the whole time."
"Yeah?"
"And how does that make you feel?"

"I see you recently lost a member of your family. We're you
close with your mother?"

I see the slightest inflection of surprise on her face

I get up and walk out of the room and see a couple other stodent
that were called up tyler,alberto,that parker kid, and a couple
of others.

I log into the email and I have new mail

I look over my shoulder and that parker kid is looking.
"What are you doing?"

He runs off
The basement of Fisk enterprises is tinted in a red light
annoying.
I run through most of the building and find security room i Tap
the dude on the shoulder
"Excuse me I'm here for payback?"
"Hu-"
I hit him in the face
"Thanks that's a start."
Another man walks out of the bathroom and draws his gun
"This isint what it looks like! Unless it looks like a costumed
freak pinching your fiend in the face so he can steal your
bosses security footage....cause then it is what it looks like."
He fires and the bullet flies at me I dodge and he fires another
one and I jump as it hits the power sending the entire building
into darkness.
I Rip open the door and I see all of the dvds
These ate them date time it's all right. I got the footage of
humpty dumpty killing that guy and I'll bet dollars to doughnuts
that it has more illegal activities on it.
Time slows down and I jump on top of the storage unit to see
electro and some more goons standing there.
"Well it almost worked."
