Had some people over (friends from the US), so was not able to
sit with the kid during the last games. He started well - got 16
wins from 19, but had 3 losses in a row - should have won 2 of
them, but he was struggling to create chances, and then the
little he did have, the likes of Neymar, Ronaldo & Bergkamp
weren't putting them away.
It unsettled him - even winning the next 3 - he still wasn't
playing well ... showed with results of LWLWL. This meant he had
the tough ask of 8 wins in the last 10, to get Elite 3.
Slight change-up in the team, but it meant a pause to start
with. Not always 'nice', but it did turn the tide a bit - 5 wins
in a row ... looking good, but for the interruption of my mate's
wife. She came & sat down and started chatting - he stopped
playing, so decided he would finish his last games on Monday
morning.
Bad mistake. Horrible laggy games mean 4 losses from 5 and
missing out on Elite for the first time in 5 weeks.
Here's the thing ... when you start with this, and you have a
decent-ish run, it hooks you even more in. With that decent run,
you auto qualify for the next week and ... just continue.
7 weeks - I estimate a little over the 1M in coins earned - this
is apart from the untradeable monthly rewards (approx 425k). One
week to go and he only needs 6 wins for Elite status and another
11 cards. If they're of similar value - it will mean that in the
2 months, he would have earned around 1.2M in players (pretty
much all sold off) and around 800k worth of untradeables ...
really cannot complain!

but....the good players are getting richer and getting better
players. It unbalance the game like COD did with their kill
streak rewards. Casual gaming is almost gone in FIFA....at least
in FUT

Yea didn't win enough last week and didn't qualify this week
either TBH CBA with Fut anymore you're skill level doesn't
dictate how much you win pure luck and random bounces do........
WL is a sweat fest people will do anything to win and rub it in
you're face when they do.

Yeah Glad - it's a bit crazy, but ... there was a video on the
one guy who got top 100 - on Xbox, so a guaranteed legend & 44
of those special cards. He took the "IF" Kante - sent to club
and discarded the rest. His legend was Carragher - probably not
the best but still!
In the end, these guys only player with 15, maybe 20 cards -
that's it. But, that's probably the top 50 in the world. They're
not playing football - it's simply hogging the ball to death.
The kid specifically watched Gorilla, JukeZ to see what they
were doing - a number of games (he said). Comes back and says
that they're so pathetic - they're the ones that are 1
dimensional in their game play.
BB ... cannot deny that WL is THE sweatiest iteration of UT -
ever - given the rewards obviously. Going back to seasons, it's
so casual at times. Last week playing solo, got relegated from
D1 again, but D2 is even more relaxed to play - won it and got
promoted back & therefore qualified. Not that it was needed, but
it's still at least a way in. I do think the qualifying is
getting even more stressful and sweaty so it's almost in a no
one situation, if you take that path.

I have my team ready. Going to see what happens in an hour or
so. I fully expect it to be horrendous though!
The fact that I don't know my best formation doesn't help. Have
had a change of direction and have decided to go with 4231. In
the past week or so, this has been the formation I've found to
be best at combating the constant 4321 pace teams. My results
are pretty much all over the place, so not hopeful of much.

Managed to get thirteen games played in the weekend league on
Friday. Started off with two losses, but eight wins in the other
eleven games was pretty good. Played the best stuff I've played
so far on this FIFA. Really liking the 4231. Defensively very
solid and seems pretty good against the typical FIFA 17
playstyle.
Hopefully I can continue the decent results, but you just never
know with this game.

Nice one mate.
What I have heard with others and even seen with the kid, is
that when you win a good bunch of games the Elo rating kicks in
and starts matching you against better opponents. A loss or 2
quickly turns into a bad run.
Seriously suggest that if you do lose 3/4 in the space of 4/5
games, take a break.

2 Great runs by the kid this weekend - first game was a loss
(IMO he should've warmed up!) ... followed by 15 wins. Lost 4
from the next 10 before finishing with 14 wins. 35 wins in total
- probably will drop out of the Top 100, but more than chuffed
with the result! Impressive games by him and the rewards will be
welcomed!

I've done 28 games now. Have 16 wins, so two more for Gold 3,
and my aim, 5 more wins for Gold 2. Would be happy with that,
considering I've previously been unable to qualify and spend
most of my time in Division 3 and 4.
Have been playing noticably harder opponents the last few games,
but still picking up wins. Almost every team recently has been
exactly the same. A defence of Shaw, Bailly, Smalling and Walker
with Ngolo Autotackle in midfield and Martial at LF.
I've started every game on attacking and both fullbacks on
always overlap, although I have had to put the fullbacks to more
defensive depending on how the opponent plays.
