The winning 433(5) team:
HTML http://www.futhead.com/15/squads/16987607/
A quick win for this team. Only took 7 games, one semi final
defeat followed by 4-0, 2-0 and 2-1 wins to get to the final.
Played a horrible BPL 41212, with a gold attribute card on IF
Welbeck. First goal came not long into the second half. A
defected shot was retrieved by Walcott, and his ball in was
finished by Ozil. Sturridge scored against me when he sprinted
at me, was tackled 3 times, but of course was able to retrieve
the ball each time and then finish on his 2* weak foot.
Could have won it late on, but it went to extra time. Walcott
gave the ball to Ozil who beat his defender all ends up, before
drilling in at the near post. Wouln't normally do this but
Sturridge and Welbeck attempted it every time they got near my
goal so it was fitting to show him how to do it. Into the second
period of extra time, got a free kick right on the edge of the
box. Substitute IF Wes Sneijder put it into the net for an
instant rage quit and 12th Gold Cup win.
GK- Ali Al-Habsi. Was a bit worried about using a silver keeper
but he was excellent. Made all the saves you'd expect and even
pulled out some that I wouldn't have expected a high rated gold
keeper to make. I guess his handling could be a little better,
but I'd be surprised if there were many silver goalkeepers
better than him.
RB - James Perch. Another silver, and didn't let the side down.
Did everything asked of him and for 150 coins was decent. His
highlight was a goal in a 2-0 win in the second round that
produced an instant rage quit against a 1m coin BPL team.
CB - Emerson Boyce - Another silver from Wigan and again, for a
70 rated player was very solid. Did nothing wrong, but helped
out by playing next to a monster.
CB - SIF Naldo. Where do I start? Wins everything in the air,
tackles anything that gets near him. Being 6"6, his slide tackle
is like putting stinger spikes across a road in a Need For Speed
game. No runners are going to get by him. Probably the best CB
I've used so far, and if he gets upgraded will be absolutely
incredible. Well worth the 24k he cost.
LB - Bastian Oczipka. 350 coins for him and wasn't bad at all.
Nothing special but decent enough.
CDM - Luiz Gustavo. Second time I've used him on 15 and my
opinion hasn't changed from the first time I used him. Immense
CDM, and a very useful perfect link with SIF Naldo.
CM - Ilkay Gundogan - Excellent in midfield can do everything,
pass, shoot, defend, dribble and skills.
CM - Steven Gerrard - We all know that he is very good.
LW - Lukas Podolski - Probably the most disappointing player.
Still was decent, but would probably be best as a LF, to make
use of his cannon of a shot.
RW - Theo Walcott - We've all played against him hundreds of
times. Damn quick and his presence on the wing is enough to
scare some opponents to death. Often creates changes just by
being on the pitch. People are expecting the lob through ball to
him if you pretend to set up for it and it's on, but play a
surprise reverse ball in the opposite direction. Got plenty of
assists and he seems to be able to finish a lot better on 15
than he used to be able to.
CF - Mesut Ozil. Not found a better false 9 than Ozil. Excellent
on the ball and as I said elsewhere, he seems to always have
time on the ball. Just seems perfect for the role, can finish,
is fantastic on the ball, skills are very smooth, can pass
immaculately and was always in space to receive the ball. Only
negative is a 2* weak foot, but he is so good at shifting the
ball in tight spaces onto his strong foot. Well worth picking up
for a dirt cheap price during the TOTY madness.

After selling IF Brahimi for stupid coins yesterday morning, I
had to rebuild the very inconsistent 4321 team I built ages ago.
In the end, only 4 players remained from the original team, the
front 3 of Jay Rodriguez, Emmanuel Mayuka and Quaresma, and IF
Hector Herrera who came into the midfield for the poor Casemiro
a week or so ago.
Of course after weeks of not getting very far with the first
version of the team, the new squad won the cup first time out!
Mayuka turned into Pele and scored 3 goals in the first round in
a 4-0 win, 1 goal in a 2-0 win in the second round, 2 in a 3-2
semi final win and another 3 in the final. And the final, not
really sure what was going to happen when the loading screen
brought up an 89 rated team in 433(4)!
SIF Neymar - TOTY Messi - Bale
James Rodriguez
TOTY Iniesta - TOTY Kroos
Marcelo - TOTY Silva - TOTY Ramos - Dani Alves
Sirigu
I dread to think how many coins that is worth. As often happens,
he was one of the worst players I've ever played, and he put the
controller down after 30 minutes or so with the score at 5-0. He
didn't have a shot and had absolutely no idea how to defend. How
this guy had got to final I don't know. After three goals from
Mayuka and two from Jay Rodriguez he had had enough so I just
passed it around to get the game over with.
Can't really comment much on some of the players in the team. IF
Ruffier seemed decent and made some stunning saves in the semi
final, including a penalty save that stopped me going 3-1 down,
but didn't have much to do in the other games. The centre backs
were IF Hilton and David Luiz. Luiz is the same as the past 4
FUT's, and we all know about that. IF Hilton was hard to judge.
So short for a CB, but his jump is spectacular! Like he's on a
giant pogo stick or something.
The full backs of Moreno and Mariano both did well and
contributed to both defence and attack.
Lucas Leiva sat there and defended, but DON'T shoot with him! IF
Herrera gets involves all over and is decent, but can't finish.
Quintero seemed quite good and scored one very nice goal in the
semi to make it 2-2. Good on the ball as well.
In attack, Mayuka is still like he was in FUT13. Plays way above
his rating and of course is very quick. His 9 goals in the
winning cup run took him above Mitroglou as my top scorer in
FUT15 with 63 goals. Jay Rodriguez isn't that good, and scored
19 in 67 games, but gets injured so often. Quaresma is good, and
ended up with 19 goals and more assists but I just think he
lacks something. Nani is quite a bit better in my opinion, he
seems a lot smoother in his skills and more mobile.

When I first started using my 442 team with Didier Ya Konan and
IF Andy Carroll in attack, I hated it. It took about 10 games to
win a match with it, although probably 6 or 7 of those were
draws in seasons. Gradually I got used to it and it has become
one of my favourite teams. It was very easy to play good
football and the contrast between the two strikers made them a
perfect blend. Also the contrast between the 2 central
midfielders worked really well with Thiago Neves attacking and
Sandro sitting. On the wings, Lennon got at the fullbacks and
was instructed to get in behind, while the more pedestrian
Marquinho came short and helped out in midfield more and scored
very rarely indeed.
The team got better and better and has just landed a 14th cup
win. Scores of 4-2 (Ya Konan 3 goals), 3-2 (Ya Konan 3 goals),
3-2 (IF Carroll 3 goals) and 5-2 (Ya Konan 4 goals) won it.
The final was surreal. His team was basically a Serie A pace
team with Gervinho and Cuadrado on the wings, nothing unusual
there. But in attack he had this guy:
HTML http://www.futhead.com/15/players/2973/tor-hogne-aar%C3%B8y/
Look at his stats, just jumping and strength and check out his
height!
EVERY attack was down the wings. He had chances to go through
the middle but every single ball ended up with Gervinho or
Cuadrado running very fast down the wing. He went 1-0 up when
the giant headed one in. I levelled when Ya Konan lashed in a
loose ball, but the giant headed in another just before half
time. I was starting to get annoyed now and second half
dominated possession but couldn't break through. Eventually
Aaron Lennon got free and finished into the bottom corner, but
still the cross attempts were coming. Luckily the giant was very
slow and I figured out his routine of sprinting, couple of skill
moves to slow things down until the giant arrived in the box, so
there were no more alarms. Ya Konan then got on the end of an IF
Carroll ball to make it 3-2 on the 82nd minute, and in the 90th
minute Lennon was taken out in the box and the penalty from Ya
Konan made it 4-2. There was still time for Ya Konan to break
through again and score his 10th goal of the cup run to give me
a 5-2 win.
A very interesting game, and I dread to think what would have
happened on FUT14 with his tactics and the messed up heading on
there!

The winning team:
HTML http://www.futhead.com/15/squads/21991982/
Ya Konan is one of my favourite strikers so far. Has finishing,
positioning and ball control way above a 77 rated card and was
deadly in the box. He ended up netting 42 goals with the also
excellent IF Andy Carroll getting 31. Carroll is a lot more than
just heading. Has a hammer of a left foot and set up 20 goals or
so.
Sandro was a yellow card magnet and got booked in all 4 of my
games in the winning run, but is a good defensive midfielder.
Thiago Neves has a wonderful left foot and scored a decent
amount from the edge of the box or further. Marquinho is not
that quick for a winger but dd well coming short and helping the
midfield. Lennon is a good winger but lacks the finishing and
shooting abilities that Walcott has.
In defence, Leandro Castan was excellent and his partnership
with IF Thomas Heurtaux was good. Heurtaux is good, nothing
great but good for a discard IF. Evra and Rafael play how you'd
expect at full back, and Handanovic in goal, after a shocking
start, turned it around and showed way he is one of the top
keepers from Serie A.
A very fun team and Ya Konan was a revelation. Have always had
success with him in the past. Anyone remember his IF on 12?

Played three games tonight and got on one of those rolls where
you feel untouchable. A day when you play well and Fifa is the
best game invented! (LOL!)
First played a friendly, and played a very good player with a
silver BBVA side. Was having one of those days when I defend
properly and patiently, and managed to win it 3-2, with his
second being classic 90th minute FUT stuff.
Onto the cup semi final with my IF Payet 433(5) team and I'm
faced with Ibra. He was obviously a good player and didn't just
do the usual crosses towards Ibra all game. Again, defended as
well as I've ever done, and this allowed me the space to snatch
one with IF Payet just before half time. A second half
bombardment followed but it remained 1-0.
The final was a nearly fully IF BPL side. The LW Sanchez, IF
Aguero, Cuadrado, TOTS Di Maria, the 88 Rooney, IF Wanyama,
Moreno, Kosielny IF Reid and Clyne (Walker must have gone AWOL).
And of course hunters or shadows on everyone.
Was a lot of lobs and sprinting down the wing and it got to half
time 0-0 with me on top chance wise 5-2. Got a very rare headed
goal for me early on in the second half from Moudou Sougou. Love
it when a 71 silver puts these teams to the sword! Got a 2nd on
69 from an IF Gourcuff penalty after Payet was taken out and
comfortably stopped Cuadrado's and Di Maria's sprint dribbles
and managed to induce a late rage quit to give me a first cup
for a while 2-0.
Also managed to cross Comoros and Evian Thonon off the list with
67 silver RB Kasim Abdallah, who wasn't actually that bad.
What happens to the team now, I'm not sure. IF Payet, IF
Gourcuff and IF Benat are probably not worth selling (or
attempting to) in this current climate.
Will update with the winning team and mini reviews in the near
future........
