Thanks and i understand your frustration about the perception of
Arsenal, because essentially they have been doing well, adhering
to FFP and yet consistently acheiving top 4 status which is so
important, cant fault Wenger and the club for that.
Fans will forgive a lot of things but lack of ambition isnt one
of those things. I know RVP and Nasri have their ego's, i just
think Suarez is a whole different ball game i mean look at that
rap sheet of his, he can barely keep himself out of trouble for
any length of time. Great footballer no doubt, but that much
baggage for a guy who there is every chance he will hang around
for 2 years then do the same to Arsenal? not where i would
spend my 40m, got to be safer options, a bit cheaper and a
helluva lot more reliable.
But whos to say Arsenal sign Suarez, win the league next season,
my whole argument dies a death, it could happen. I hope for
their sakes if they do buy Suarez they leave some money for
another CB or something.

It just seems that trying to play by the rules was blown out of
the water when the big money came . A crook like Abramovich
sails scott free from scrutiny . Brian Marwood is a clown ,
but he rides the coattails of a huge cheque book and acts smug
.
Football has become an arms race and unless you have a sugar
daddy - good luck . Spurs will find this out very soon .
I would happily sign for 2 years of good football and a tilt at
the title . The days of long term planning in football ar
over .

Duly xboxed.
Football is ruined, just like the the people who play it are
ruined.
Fans complain about the money in football, yet continue to pump
money in, buying shirts, tickets, and Sky subscriptions.
It's akin to people who complain about the standard of public
services but don't want to pay more tax... in reverse.

You are right, its going to be hard to stop the City's, PSG's,
Barca's, Madrid's of the world the way things are. Either UEFA
need to shut off all the loopholes in the FFP or it wont make a
difference. Even if it does work what then, does it just serve
to reinforce the established elite and the big clubs existing
status, effectively it becomes a closed shop. So maybe its
better if we allow sugar daddies to come in and help elevate
teams to that level, cos lets face it Monaco would never be
there in a million years otherwise (not that they are now)
Tough one really. The only thing that can bridge that gap
between teams that have huge financial backing is very effective
management and training, but the bigger the financial gulf is,
the harder it is to bridge that gap.

i disagree there Eric . The gap cannot be bridged . cll me
biased , but very few clubs have been better managed in the last
15 years than AFC and they are labelled as lacking ambition
because the ball did not bounce there way vs Birmingham .
Look at Fabregas - seemingly an AFC lifer ( unless Barca came
calling) and now he is being touted for United . I think Wenger
did the right hing by the player letting him go to his home and
now look ?
The chasm between the haves and have nots will only keep growing
.

I mean the likes of Dortmund tho being able to almost win the
CL. I mean they do not have the spending power of Europe's
elite, they have a bit more now, but last summer they were
buying at the level below the PSGs, Barca, Madrids but Dortmund
got to the final thru a combination of having very good players
and those players being coached to a high standard. Im not
talking about the likes of a Stoke being able to win PL or even
a Seville/Valencia to win La Liga again anytime soon. I guess
tho at a league level, the teams that regulary qualify for the
CL will pull further and further away from those who dont. I
guess it all points to a European Super League in the future
when that point is reached.

Dortmund used their academy very well but look at their team
now: Gotze gone, Lewan going, Sahin left (now back), Kagawa
gone; Hummels, Gundogan, Reus will almost certainly leave in the
next few years. Teams will have a good year or two, or even
three but will never be able to maintain it unless they have a
rich sugar daddy. I mean 2 years ago if you had said Ibra,
Silva, Cavani, Falcao will all be in Ligue 1 you;d have been
laughed at.

agree with Lewis here . if the stars align and a bumper crop of
youth gels at the same time , it can happen . but the odds are
against it . No one wants to wait 5 years for a plan to come
together and agents convince kids to up sticks for more money ,
not necessarily better opportunities .
It does feel like a euro super league cannot be far away

The sooner these big spending elite clubs bugger off and form
their own Super Duper League the better, and leave us all to get
on with proper football... with all the crap players that they
don't want :-\
