Ill try but i dont think you will like it.
I think Arsenal and Wenger have made a rod for their own back.
8 or more years without a trophy, losing to B'ham in league cup
final (year they got relegated) the results over that period
well trophies jsut hasnt been good enough. Then every year
you get Wenger dressing it up talking of their successes, ie
getting to top 4, some years they promise to spend big and dont,
or Wenger will claim its not over till its over, when its
clearly over and so on.
I think everyone, not just Arsenal fans have got tired of this.
They gave the media a rod to beat them with and by god they get
that.
I think Arsenal deserve credit for relative success and being
very prudent, but when you look at the barren period of
trophies, so soon after the invincibles era and its not good
enough.
Arsenal used to be my english team way back but even i grew
tired of their failure to address the problems in the team and
such a willing acceptance of 'being 2nd best'.
Tbh i think its gone on too long now, the only thing that will
stop the criticism is trophies, its upto Arsenal to produce
that, but thats the pressure that big clubs operate under and
its upto Arsenal to rise to that.

Also i can understand the criticism of the Suarez bid.
I dont think its quite a case of damned if you do and damned if
you dont. I think there is a degree of cynicism perhaps on it.
Firstly you can look to Higuain situation at face value.
Arsenal fans get excited, deal stalls, few weeks later signs for
Napoli, fans let down.
The Suarez bid kinda seems a bit for show, i mean years of not
spending big, now they are prepared to spend 2.5x their transfer
record on a guy who wanted out of England supposedly (now being
watered down to CL football) and with highly questionable morals
who will miss the first 6-8 games of the season? Just doesnt
seem like an Arsenal type target. Im sure they will get some
kind of credit if they do sign him.
I think until Suarez or a big 20m+ player signs, then all this
will be viewed with an air of cynicism. If Liverpool dig heals
in with Suarez, then Arsenal could have wasted half the window
chasing targets they cant or wont get.
Man U's bid for Fabregas seems a shambles as well if you ask me.
Not like they are exempt from criticism.

I am sue I am in the minority , but I dont think Higuain is
good enough . it is amazing to me that a player who is
essentially a squad guy has been called world class by so many .
I think RM spoofed Arsenal to get a bigger fee and it worked .
Suarez is a world class player and proven in the BPL . We all
know his past , but I am not sure where Arsenal are supposed o
turn for a world class strike? The transfer record is
meaningless to me .
Man city et al have raised the spending levels in the BPL so
high , that is you want class , you have to pay thru the nose
for it .
I am , and will remain a huge Wenger fan .From the USA , it
seems like he receives ridiculous amount of stick for basically
being one of the best managers in the game .

I think you are right on Higuain. It was a good deal at 25m
euros but not so much at 37m. Real Madrid lucked out there
which for me is a bit disappointing. But Arsenal were totally
right to walk away in that situation. However it does add to
this pressure to get someone good on board.
I read a bit of that article there and i have to agree with the
tone of it, the 40m for Suarez to me doesnt seem Wenger driven,
its like its a board move, not saying it doesnt have Wenger's
blessing, im just not convinced Suarez is the sort of guy he
wants. Something doesnt seem right. Also i think this
paragraph makes a hugely relevant point:
There is also the uncomfortable but unavoidable fact that Suarez
has rewarded Liverpool, the management, fellow players and, not
least the crowd, for nearly two years of excruciating
come-what-may support with a display of disloyalty that might
raise a frown below decks in a sinking ship.
I actually think if Suarez joins Arsenal, he will gladly repeat
his actions if chance of a move to Madrid comes in 2 years time.
Is that what you want? or is it a case of you wont care as
long as you win some trophies in that time?

Great points Eric . My comment would be that AFC is used to
this kid of behaviour - Nasri , RVP etc . This is modern
football . I hate it , but the genie is out of the bottle .
I like good football . When you get to my age , trophies mean
very little . I think younger fans enjoy bragging about it ,
but it was interesting to see JUVENTUS top the CL earnings .
I ate Suarez as a player very highly , he is pretty unique in
his abilities . I would enjoy watching him at the Emirates -
Having said all of this , he is along way from joining Arsenal
methinks
