I cant say im surprised, my brother had major teething problems
to start with as well as he has only ever played fifa. PES is
hard to like at the start, I think the main reasons for this
are; The mechanics are totally different, the presentation is
poor compared to fifa, you have to adjust to the controls (there
are so many PES controls to learn) and on top of that no one is
any good at PES when they first start. All that added up makes a
good argument not to get it. BUT once you start to master the
gameplay it becomes the most enjoyable football game for many
       years.
I think the main differences though are the footballing values
which are demonstrated by EA and Konami. That is what swings me
massively towards Konami. Even though PES is a little rough
around the edges it shows love for the art of football -
something which has been lacking from Fifa for a few years now.
I have played over 150 games already and I can count on one hand
the amount of scrubs ive played. The community are more inclined
to score nice, worthwhile goals rather than the same cheap
exploit over and over again. Id say some of the problem is due
to playing PES the same way you would play fifa. It took me a
       while to break those habits.
Some of the animations looked weird to me as well at the start
but I think that's just because my eyes were adjusted to fifa.
When I played fifa at a friends house the players running style
and the player models looked ridiculous to me but I think that's
because im now adjusted to PES. I'd say its just a case of what
your eyes are used to. I should add that the final game is a
step up graphically to the demo.
My friend put it nicely when he said fifa is the booty call of
football games; meaning that its a no fuss, pick up and play and
be instantly gratified. There is no love there though (or at
least not for me) PES is something that has to be worked at, you
need to invest some time in to it as there is no way on earth
you can just pick up a pad for the first time and start winning.
PES needs to be loved whereas fifa is just a dirty **** you call
on a Friday night when you are smashed. lol
Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy it lads. I wouldn't give up
though, I had a torrid time at the start and now I absolutely
love it. I'd be happy to drop some tips if anyone needed any but
some how I think your time with PES is over. :'(

I tend to agree with you about investing more time into PES in
order to make it work. As time is limited at the moment, FIFA
felt instantly 'good' if you know what I mean.
I will wait till PES is free with PS PLus (as last time) and
just before the 16 versions of PES and FIFA and see if I can
       coop with it.

Yeah - I definitely understand what you're saying.
Yes - your eyes will acclimatise to the necessary product &
animations will become familiar. As you say PES is rough around
the edges at the moment - albeit with the final game looking
better - however there are major steps to take to get it to
       'look more realistic'.
At times there were basic animations in play where a player's
head was 'not in line' with his body and thus looking in the
complete wrong direction whilst passing. It does seem that
little 'off' - those are the parts that I found really poor.
Call me a purist / perfectionist with rose-coloured glasses not
wanting to see past the FIFA woes. I'm not that at all - I call
a spade, a spade. There are aspects to FIFA that annoy the cr@p
out of me. However, I take the very good (at times great) with
the bad. Been posting on the dark side at times and see that
someone was 'quitting FIFA' as his keeper let in an own goal -
it was the final straw for him. The original pass was in the box
& basically a yard (or even less) from the touch line. I agreed
with him that it was idiotic that the keeper never even
attempted to touch the ball, but I did question him as to why he
was making that pass. After a few responses he finally 'got it'
... we put pressure on ourselves in this game, make poor
decisions & then get upset with the one last aspect that goes
wrong. Now it's the game's fault that we lose.
I kid you not ... we were spanking teams last night. One of them
the idiot was dribbling out of his own half with his fullbacks.
When he finally attempted a pass across to his CB, we
intercepted (we do a lot of work on cutting the passing lanes),
we scored - a few times. I try my best to play in the spirit of
the game, but I will not suffer fools. People cannot get upset
with the game, if they are doing daft things. And ... I have
done many in my time :)!
I know that the same will happen with PES - there will never be
a perfect game - it's impossible. I will curse & swear at it for
missing X or Y. Therefore its easier to accept the 'devil I
know', given the time required to master PES.

Yea I totally understand what you guys are saying. There is a
lot of change to adjust to in a small amount of time, not all
the changes (ie. graphics and presentation) are in the right
direction. I'd also add if you are happy with FIFA then there is
no real need for change or any of the upheaval that change
       causes.
I will say this though, after PES has reminded me what I love
about football games I cant see me ever wanting to play fifa
again unless drastic changes are made. As an old PES fan though,
I couldn't be happier, despite the unpolished presentation. :)

Ah ... I did want to add that I think it's great that Konami are
focusing on what's important to them - getting the experience
around the game play right. You need to work with the resources
you have, and them taking that approach is 100% correct.
That is my biggest issue with EA - they have resources, they use
them like dunces. For example, we now have a range of new images
       for players ... ::).
